Red Baron Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 according to Blabbermouth.net Judas Priest might be (and hopefully) one of the acts at this years Ozzfest. Seemingly this is one of the best acts, Ozzfest has ever done in a while.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Will the child molester be on skins for them still ?
Guest Choken One Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I'm predicting Disturbed, Shadows Fall, Judas Priest, and Maybe one of the Mainstream "Rock" bands (Slipknot, Korn) will get the Main Stage billings.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Ozzfest will probably be 100 dollars for gaytime this year. I'd expect Trapt, Smile Empty Soul, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Godsmack, and half a dozen bands that look and sound exactly like them in the hot hot sun.
Guest mesepher Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 all I want is a Black Sabbath tour, nothing more.
snuffbox Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 how is this good?! priest is off the queer charts. the drummer was just found guilty of raping a handicapped teenage boy. they havent played with halford in twenty years, the music is stale, the guys are old, and theyre all wearing gay leather. if theyre dragging these guys out of the closet...why not get a much better relic to headline, like motorhead or iron maiden? seriously, is it so hard to make an ozzfest lineup that is good? apc/motorhead/system of a down/sevendust/rammstein/morbid angel/hatebreed/nonpoint/shadows fall/kse/depswa/duna hill that would sell and not be lame.
Guest Choken One Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Disturbed is by far different sounding then Trapt, Smile Empty Soul and Linkin Park. Disturbed is just straight up Power Hard Rock while the rest are Nu Metal/Paunk music...
Placebo Effect Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 No way Linkin Park will do Ozzfest. Their entire tour is getting awesome numbers, and they're probably looking forward to a second headlining tour for the summer. I liked the line-up for Ozzfest 2003. Sure, a few of the bands, such as Hotwire and Depswa (both aren't terrible, but are not metal in the loosest sense of the word) had no business on the tour, but as a fan of a lot of the newer metal, the past two Fest's have been satisfying. Flaw will likely take a sidestage spot, as they have a new album coming out in April. Element Eighty will also likely be on the tour, who are a pretty good, if not really generic, metal band out of Texas who are signed to Universal. I really hope 40 Below Summer doesn't do the tour. I've seen them play much-too-short sets four or five times now. Disturbed is a possibility, as they're scheduled to play some metalfest in July with their new guitar guy, and I assume they'll have a new album out by then. Smile Empty Soul or Trapt will probably take that Adema/Chevelle spot, where they get the unfortunate experience of opening the main stage. I'm eagerly anticipating Ozzfest. I love doing photography at the tour, as it's just a crazy day full of tour bus antics, free booze, and fun performances.
Placebo Effect Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 /depswa/ Be rest assured that there is no way in hell Depswa will get on the tour again. Universal (I believe) cut their tour support with twenty or so dates still left, as the album sold absolute piss despite the sidestage performance, and paying for advertisements to play on loop on the Ozzfest screen.
Paul Stanley Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Dave Holland (ex-priest drummer, let go in 89) is the child molestor, the current drummer (Scott Travis) is not in this in any way shape or form. and if JP is on Ozzfest i will cry.
snuffbox Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 /depswa/ Be rest assured that there is no way in hell Depswa will get on the tour again. Universal (I believe) cut their tour support with twenty or so dates still left, as the album sold absolute piss despite the sidestage performance, and paying for advertisements to play on loop on the Ozzfest screen. yes...i am aware of this. i saw them play an offday show with unloco and memento at the time last summer. i thought they put a good show. and, this is clearly a wishlist that wont be coming tru...i doubt several of my bands would ever play. but, i guess heres the current, unconfirmed, lineup from blabbermouth - Ozzy/judas priest/slipknot/hatebreed, with rumors of damageplan and Velvet Revolver. meh.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Way to suck goats. damageplan's single is one of the worst tracks I've heard in a while. COMPLETELY unidentifiable in a lineup, trying to sell based solely on the "featuring Dimebag and Vinnie, formerly of Pantera (in a nifty font to try to fool some dipshit into thinking it's a new Pantera release)."
PLAGIARISM! Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Disturbed is by far different sounding then Trapt, Smile Empty Soul and Linkin Park. Disturbed is just straight up Power Hard Rock while the rest are Nu Metal/Paunk music... Paunk is actually a pretty good name for a shite genre of music. Sounds so obnoxious and gay.
Guest Choken One Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 That's why Smile Empty Soul, Trapt, Good Charlotte are considered Paunk.
snuffbox Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 here is a current rumor list from theprp.com - Ozzy Osbourne Amen As I Lay Dying Damageplan DevilDriver Hatebreed In Flames Killswitch Engage Lamb Of God Slipknot Unearth Velvet Revolver
Corey_Lazarus Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Ozzy Osbourne - Decent, but most of his stuff is bland as hell, be it old-school or recent. Awesome showman, and this means Zakk gets some stagetime. Amen - Didn't know they were still around. Decent aggro/nu-metal band. Casey Chaos' lyrics are actually quite good, and their music is tolerable. As I Lay Dying - Meh. Damageplan - Meh. DevilDriver - Meh. Hatebreed - Already seen 'em twice. They can get the poserfuck "hardcore" kids going, but that's about it. In Flames - Pretty good live, and I'd dig seeing 'em again. Plus, more US exposure. Killswitch Engage - Decent live. Decent on album. Will help get the nu-metal fucks into the Mass Metal scene, where another awesome band on this tour is from... Lamb Of God - INSANE. INSANITY IN A JEWEL CASE. Slipknot - Blah. Unearth - One of the best untapped Mass Metal bands there are. Great live, and have a killer fucking sound. Velvet Revolver - I hate STP and Weiland's voice, and don't mind GNR. Won't like. Seems like a show I might go to just so I can see bands I've already seen live (Ozzy, Hatebreed, In Flames, KSE, Lamb Of God, Unearth).
Guest Choken One Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 I thought Ozzy was still recovering from the ATV accident? Besides, Isn't it time Ozzy steps aside anyways? The show no longer needs the sell of Ozzy and the name sells on it's own... Here's my wishlist without Ozzy Main Stage AC/DC (Headliners) Motorhead Tool(Or A Perfect Circle) Disturbed (they will need a mainstream band and this is best out there) Shadows Fall Second Stage Killswitch Engage In Flames Lamb Of God Unearth Dimmu Borgir Hatebreed Dark Tranquility
Steviekick Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 In Flames is amazing, but I wouldn't go to Ozzfest just to see them.
Guest Blas Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Ozzfest is never worth any amount of money. Here's my ultimate Ozzfest set. Main Stage Black Sabbath Sodom Entombed Bolt Thrower Kreator Second Stage The Project Hate Tankard 2 Ton Predator Finntroll God Dethroned Grimfist Bal-Sagoth I'd love that. But realisticly...NOTHING and I mean NOTHING beats Wacken Open Air
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 Black Sabbath Sodom Entombed Bolt Thrower Kreator OLD SCHOOL OR NO SCHOOL~! *bay-area circle pit*
converge241 Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 the latest in blabbermouth Osbourne will play and will top a main-stage bill that will probably include veteran British heavy metallers JUDAS PRIEST. Also expected to appear are SLIPKNOT and HATEBREED, who will likely co-headline the festival's second-stage. Other rumored contenders for the festival include DAMAGEPLAN and VELVET REVOLVER i always wanted a priest or maiden on the tour slipknot and hatebreed are easy to see both fans of each other and slipknot has a new album coming out it would be funny to have "new" Pantera and "new" GNR on the same tour if Grohl wants to tour i could see Probot on it as well i could see like a disturbed or system of a down maybe as the other big name to draw people in depending on if the next album does well cause if it doesnt they are just another slipknot (could have blown up huge but petered out.) historically sharon will always get one big hot name to help anchor the tour and none of the rumored bands would fit that bill none of these lineups would get me to go again though i havent been to one in years if ozzy did a tour of him and some of the older bands that got named here and in other posts id go say ozzy ac/dc maiden priest anthrax motorhead dio the funny thing is that tour would do decent business but not all the sizeable venues that they like to do and would kill the weird cred that ozzy has with newer kids into "metal"
A Happy Medium Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Reminds me that I just missed As I Lay Dying. Couldn't come up with any money. I've been wanting to see In Flames for a long time now. They don't come to Dallas very often, so this might be my only chance this year. Just me or is hardcore dancing one of the dumbest things a person can see?
