Chappelle's Show thread

Recommended Posts

In thinking about the Niggar family skit, I think I've hit upon some problems I've had with the show thus far this year. It wasn't long enough and it didn't go anywhere. They set up the premise, established two situations and then that was it. There was no payoff. And the racial draft skit last week didn't have a payoff either, they just went through the first round and that was it. The stuff last year, especially the blind white supremascist, was a lot more fleshed out.

Maybe there's a chance of it being a reoccuring skit.

They need to find a way to cut out some of the damn commercials and get rid of the musical guests. That extra 5 minutes would have been used to bring a payoff to the niggar family skit

There's no problem with the amount of time the show has. The show has plenty of time, they just need to use it better. The good stuff has been mixed with alot of fat this season so far. The main skits are being stretched too long and some of the other good skits(Sam Jackson Beer) are too short.

I'm still wondering what pay off people wanted from the niggar family. The skit was what if another race was called niggers, so I saw the whole thing as the pay off.

See that was the concept, but there was no payoff. Like last year with the black white supremacist, that was the concept but the payoff was him getting found out. The skit told a story. The Niggar Family and the racial draft was just a bunch of gags strung together which were funny, but there was no story or no real capper to the whole bit. You had two perfectly good situations setup at the end of the Niggar family skit last night, them having dinner with the Wetbacks and the black couple being in the restaurant with the Niggar kid and his date. But it just kind of ends with no huge joke to go out on or closure to the situations. That's a big failure with a lot of sketch comedy today, they don't understand the concept of telling a story within the skit format. Now, not every sketch needs that. I thought the Samuel L. Jackson beer bit was fine and that's something that's just funny on it's own and if kept short doesn't need to be fleshed. But the main skit of the show needs more meat to it and that's something I felt a lot of the best stuff had last year and is missing this year.

Tony and I were waiting for them to have the girl called a niggar lover.

They wasted that line on the Black White Supremist bit when the narator said Clayon (I think thats the character name) divorced his wife for being "a nigger lover" so I don't think it would work a second time.

If anything, they need to bring back the crack head.

Damn, I forgot the characters name. Was it Tyrone Biggums? (or something along those lines)
