Dudleys Vs Eliminators

Recommended Posts

Guest ravman77

Finally got round to watching this DVD last night.

Anyway, I was shocked at how squashed the Dudleys were in the opening match against the Eliminators for the tag belts. Was there any big reason behind this? I can understand with it being ECW's first ever PPV Heyman wanted to open with a 'feelgood' match/result but the Duds didnt get a shot in at all. Were they in Heymans bad books or something?...

Paul had been pushing The Eliminators as "The best team in the world" for a while now, so with a national PPV audience he was pretty much booked into a corner. At WrestlePalooza (also on a Pioneer DVD) the Dudleyz got their revenge and won the belts back.

I think the Eliminators were just so physically better then the Dudleys in the ring at that time, that Heyman felt the need to show off his better assets.

The Dudleys from Barely Legal weren't the same Dudleys from 98-99...they were over, but not as over as they got to be. Which is a shame cause that could have been a hell of a better feud when the Dudleys got way over as heels.
