Guest Joe_G Report post Posted January 30, 2004 The Ring of Honor website has more details, but basically: Samoa Joe will defend against BJ Whitmer and Dan Maff in a 3 way with the #1 contender's trophy on the line. If Joe wins he keeps the belt and the #1 contender's slot is vacant. If BJ or Maff pin the other, then they become the sole holder of the #1 contender's slot and will get a solo crack at the title down the line. Of course, if they beat Joe, they win the belt. Briscoes have been pulled from the Pure Wrestling Tournament and will now defend the tag titles against the Backseat Boyz. The Briscoes have been replaced in the tourney by Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. Here are all the entrants in the tourney -Jimmy Rave -Chris Sabin -AJ Styles -Alex Shelley -Matt Stryker -John Walters -Doug Williams -A mystery man that will be revealed the night of the show. We'll have more on this in Locker Room Scoops. Josh Daniels was listed as an alternate. On another note, anyone gotten their tickets yet? I always get paranoid that they'll be a screw-up and I certainly don't want to miss this show.
Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted January 30, 2004 Eh, there are always plenty of tickets at the door if you get there early enough, easier than waitiing on pins and needles for RF or getting surcharged to death at Ticketmaster. Anybody else mildly miffed this show is on Valentine's Day? Can't make it because of quality time with the girl that day, which is more important obviously, but it would have rocked to make this show, and it'll now be the 2nd straight ROH show in the area I've missed. Ah well, at least I have World-1 the week before, that'll satisfy my wrasslin' fix.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 (edited) DAMMIT~! TAKE THE GIRL TO SHOW~! Geezus, it's Ring of Honor's Second Anniversary Show. I'd take my girlfriend. Of course, I'd only have a girlfriend interested in wrestling, and of course, myself. Edited January 30, 2004 by Lightning Flik

OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 Being that VDay is on Saturday, I plan to take the woman out on Friday night to beat the crowds. I tell her its much more enjoyable being able to enjoy the meal without someone waiting to take my table, etc, etc. Works every time. I like the way they are handling the heavyweight title match. If the contenders pin each other they get #1 contender. If they pin the champ they get the belt. I'm just starting to watch old ROH shows so I'm not sure if this has been done in past events, but its a great idea.
Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 I've told Jay this a thousand times: If she really loves him, she'll buy the tickets for the show.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 I've told Jay this a thousand times: If she really loves him, she'll buy the tickets for the show. Tru dat. ...I wish I could see RoH. But I live up here on the West side of Canada and that'll never, ever happen... I feel so left out on all the goodness...
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 I am, Jay. My girlfriend only likes NECW, since the RoH show in Framingham sucked overall (with the exception of the final three matches, it was INCREDIBLY bland). So instead we're going to make each other dinner...

Surprising, since I've heard so many great things about RoH, but even the greats have off days.

Surprising, since I've heard so many great things about RoH, but even the greats have off days. The 11/29 show wasn't THAT bad. I thought the final three matches more than made up for the poor undercard (which truly wasn't even that poor, I thought the gauntlet was good). Plus, you got to see Yellow Hat Guy in action. There's nothing better.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 Never, if you go to the RoH show and see Yellow Hat Guy, tell him he's got a fan in Corey Laz.

Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Damn it, this sucks that this show is on V-Day as I wouldn't be able to make it. Plus Mass for the 2nd anniversary? WTF? I was hoping it would be somewhere I could actually make it to considering I live in PGH. I would have probably went if it was in NY or Philly though. Oh well, it will be time spent with the Ol' girlfriend instead........
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted January 31, 2004 The Special K/CC feud recap on the ROH site revealed that the strap match would be Devito, Loc & Credible Vs. Dixie, Izzy & Hydro. So there's that. There's also a picture of the PWT on the main page. 11/29 wasn't really that bad. The scramble was a little blah, and the Gauntlet seemed rushed (besides Rave/Punk which I really liked, but the crowd shit on). But Corino/Homicide was good for what it was, the tag title match was a REALLY good Southern Tag match, and AJ/Joe was amazing. I'll be there on 2/14, so hopefully they'll impress again. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Damn, ROH needs to have a show in England. Or someone needs to buy me a plane ticket on an airline which isn't grounded, and tickets to the show...and book me a hotel. Either way...
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Well if the FWA wasnt doing...well, nothing right now, they could do Frontiers of Honor II, which would be pretty damn cool.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Yeah, I'm waiting for their next show to try and get me some tickets. Getting tickets to American shows is a no go for me so far...unless someone buys them for me. That was hint number two btw.
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted February 3, 2004 Apparently Alex Shelley broke his collarbone and will be out 6-8 weeks, so he's out of the tourney. Josh Daniels, as the alternate, will almost certainly take his place. So the tournament looks like: AJ Styles Chris Sabin Doug Williams Jimmy Rave John Walters Josh Daniels Matt Stryker ??? Also, apparently Justin Credible is working for MLW instead of ROH on the 14th, so the Strap match will probably be just Devito/Loc Vs. Special K, unless Masada is brought in.
