Suggesting his career is over because his ex is getting more attention, especially fresh off her own controversy and album, is dumb. And just incase you guys didn't know, more than one or two celebrities can be successful at the same time. And how can you say they wanted the attention garnered from something that wasn't planned?

Now its all over the radio and TV thus placing them back into the public spotlight. . Well considering Justin's album came out only a bit more than a year ago, and shit the bastard is everywhere and I mean Janet Jackson could put out an album of her taking a shit and it would sell, so to say this was a publicity stunt is pretty fucking stupid. These are two people who are clearly exposed enough to the point where they don't need to be exposing breasts to get noticed. I said "current Rolling Stones? yuck". Nothing about them not being current, just that they haven't been worth listening to for over 2 decades. They were great from the 60s to the mid 70s, but that's about it. Rolling Stones or P-Diddy...I'd have no interest in watching either halftime show.

These are the women being talked about today. No one looks at Janet Jackson as a sex symbol anymore which, after last night, we can see she still desires to be. Hence the publicity stunt.

It means her name is still bankable and people are willing to use it when they can. And remember, more than 5 celebrities can be talked about at one time. It's really simple. Yes, she got some publicity, but others still had a lot more attention. I'm sure somewhere, Gladys Knight has appeared in a gossip column or been talked about around a dinner table lately. Who are they trying to get most of there Jackson case stuff from, Janet. Her and Justin were on tabloids everywhere for going out to a club together. I think it's clear that she didn't need the publicity, especially negative publicity.

CBS is doing a video delay system for the Grammys and might not invite Timberlake and Janet to perform/present.

Think about it. This is MTV. They have an IDEA what could shock. On a whole bunch of MTV shows and music videos, you have girls walking around in lingerie, bras, and panties. Why would Janet doing it be all that shocking after the public has pretty much gotten used to this kind of dress? That COULDN'T have been the shocking surprise MTV had planned. Justin Timberlake's appearance CERTAINLY couldn't have been the shocking surprise planned. Janet's tit flopping out and her nipple being coincidentally blocked for the most part - yeah, pretty shocking. I just don't see how MTV couldn't have been going for this angle. As we learned with the Britney/Madonna kiss, they want people to TALK. Janet wearing a bra....barely anyone would have batted an eye. Exposing a breast on stage....and we're still talking about it 2 days later, with the conversations undoubtedly still continuing for weeks. The pieces on this angle fit together. The pieces on the "well, the costume malfunctioned" angle doesn't.

Everytime they hype a shock or suprise, it's lame and tame, hell even the kiss was tame when you think about it. This is just not something they would plan, and considering the obviously negative effects of doing the stunt, I highly doubt this was thought out and pro/con'd before hand.
