The Metal Maniac Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Brandy McKenith, 7, was suspended for swearing for saying the word "hell," but her family says she was referring to the biblical location of fire and brimstone. Shouldn't that make it, uh... worse? Fpr the record, I was raised to believe that Hell was a swear word if you used it in the context of swearing at someone (like, go to hell, burn in hell, etc.) but if you used it just to talk about hell (like, to state that you believe there is a hell, or that satan lives in hell or whatever) then it was ok. The same distinction as taking the Lord's name in vain, really. I would assume this girl's family taught her the same.

I saw this kid once, who looked like a second or third grader, and he turned out to be in seventh grade! I've done worse things than say hell, in elementary school. Hell, I've: Pucked on the stage Stabbed a girl with a pencil Flicked a kid off Man, what else. Its been so long......
