Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted February 7, 2004 My question, have you ever seen trash being thrown into the ring in WWF:Warzone? I could've sworn I saw this years back, when I had two-player vs. and just watched them stand there as the crowd booed, and the commentators made funny coments. JR:I've seen a Chess Club get rowdier than this! Vince:Wake me up when this is over! JR:Well, they've mastered the art of not wrestling! Vince:My daughter's nursery ryhmes are more exciting than this!

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 1, 2. Smackdown sucks. 3. Depending on whether you got to have WWE guys or not, No Mercy or VPW2. 7. Either Warzone or Ultimate Muscle. 9. Shut Your Mouth, or probably one of those really bad 8 bit wrestlers. 10. Either Revenge (which has the eye-lasers! from Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal), which is just strange as all hell, or Warzone I think. Either that or Attitude had a really good intro video. 11. Most of them are pretty good, so I dunno. 12. I'd say VPW2 or No Mercy. VPW2 was long but fun and rewarding. No Mercy had the branching paths and multiple title persuits. You could make a great case for Fire Pro, though, since there has been all kinds of awesome career modes in there. 13. Wrestle War 14. If you have to have a fun 1-player mode: Ultimate Muscle. If you don't care about a great career mode: Wrestlemania XIX. 15. WMX8 16, 17. Don't know or care, but probably the Raw games. 18. I'm partial to "Fire Pro Wrestling: Blazing Tornado" myself. 19. Shut Your Mouth, Here Comes the Pain, Know Your Role, Wrestle War, Backstage Assault... 20. Fire Pro or the AKI games. 21. Wrestle War or Nitro/Thunder. 22. HCTP I guess. 23. Apoooooh! 24. I'm partial to Ultimate Muscle... 25. Backstage Assault? The others: Fire Pro.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 The original PS? Probably WWF WarZone due to no other game being half as cool (not including imports I haven't played). *puke* Come on! At least pick Attitude! Vs. the World still smoked them both, come on! Fire Pro was available via import, though. 24.Best characters? WCW/nWo Revenge Not as wacky as Ultimate Muscle, but the "fake" characters were quite creative. Good choice. Oh, and La Parka was in there, too. He was freakin' GODLY to play as. Plus he had the dancing taunts, he started his matches with the chair in hand, had an Asai Moonsault, the Dragon Attack, and Tiger Driver '91! He's my Revenge TV champ right now. Well, I'd be torn on whether or not to include it, since Slammasters uses an extremely similar concept and was made long ago.

Say no more. While barely average by today's standards, I loved that game and the whole LJN WWF series. It was a very cool intro by the standards at the time, and the SNES did a good job recreating the Raw theme at the time.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 I am surprised no one listed Smackdown 2 for the best wrestling PS game. While they had a load time that was irritating as hell, the mere fact they included Hell in Cell for the first time made it a huge seller. I love that game even though the career mode sucked. To me, I don't really care about the career mode, it's just a extra sell if it has a great career mode. I normally make my own storylines via paper/pen and game. It's the only reason I can actually remember the original Raw theme and what the opening video looked like. I marked for that intro like the little video game/wrestling fan I was whenever I popped that game into my SNES.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Best Wrestling Game(s) (of those I've played): 1.) WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain (PS2) I love the new direction that the Smackdown series seems to be going in. I feel the Playstation also has the best controller. That matters a lot when you play for hours at a time. The roster is good. The season mode is entertaining and has great replay value (because you can work up stats, etc.). I like the new submission system and the new reversal system. 2.) WCW/NWO Revenge (N64) It was my favorite wrestling title out of all the Nintendo 64 games. World Tour was decent, especially since it was first. It had a lot of flaws however, like fake wrestlers and bad glitches. Revenge came out next, and fixed a lot of the problems. It didn't have a CAW mode, but it didn't need it. I liked winning belts in the season mode, just to see what the wrestlers looked like when wearing the titles. I liked the WCW roster more than the WWF roster. Wrestlemania 2000 was an updated Revenge. It switched from WCW to WWF, which I wasn't a big fan of. It added CAW, but it wasn't too in-depth. The season mode was only worth playing through once. No Mercy was decent. The slowdown killed it for me. Being able to buy stuff in the "Smackdown Mall" was a cool new feature though. 3.) Fire Pro Wrestling D (Dreamcast) It's a lot more fun if you have a friend that knows what he is doing in the game. It gets boring just beating on the computer. Hell, even on difficulty 10 they don't put up too much of a fight. The 2D enviornment makes aerial moves and striking moves a pain, but you get used to it over time. Having to fumble though the foreign language of text is reall annoying in the beginning too. I think that's what chases away most american wrestling game players. Still a fabulous game. It should be noted that I've never played a lot of the other import games that people tend to find popular. The Virtual Pro Wrestling series or King of Colosseum for example. While they had a load time that was irritating as hell, the mere fact they included Hell in Cell for the first time made it a huge seller. I love that game even though the career mode sucked. The load times, the annoying wait just to SKIP MATCHES, the gameplay being still too much like the original game--all reasons no one else listed it. It should be noted that I've never played a lot of the other import games that people tend to find popular. The Virtual Pro Wrestling series or King of Colosseum for example. They're just like Revenge/World Tour/WM2000/NM, but better in a lot of ways. It had a lot of flaws however, like fake wrestlers and bad glitches. Those "fake wrestlers" were Japanese wrestlers with name changes, and sometimes some minor changers in looks/moves. How's that a flaw? Also, what bad glitches? The only glitches I encountered were the good kind. The 2D enviornment (in FPD) makes aerial moves and striking moves a pain, but you get used to it over time. Yeah. Instead of the aeriels available being different whether your opponent is standing or laying down, you just select a set list that you have to use at the right time. That can be pretty annoying when a moonsault misses because it was the standing attack version. The season mode (in HCTP) is entertaining and has great replay value (because you can work up stats, etc. Except if you actually want to make more than one created wrestler, than the inability to easily set your stats to where you want to and the tedium that you have to go through to raise them is really, really, annoying. Of course, I'm like the only one here who thinks Here Comes the Pain sucks.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 8, 2004 Hey, how about you don't critique me reply and answer the topic at hand? I don't have to defend myself against anything, and it was my fucking opinion on the topic. Fake wrestlers as in that fucking boxer. Stupid shit. Bad glitches as in broken polygons, game freezes and random other horse shit. I know the VPW series is like the other N64 games, that's why a lot of people like it. That's why I wanted to point out that I, personally, haven't played it.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2004 Coffey: What crawled up your ass? I am discussing the topic, after all. That boxer was Tyson with a changed name/face. He was in VPW64, and they just felt like giving people a little variety. I fail to see how that's a game flaw. Polygon breakup? It's just as bad and sometimes worse in Here Comes the Pain, so I see that as pointless bitching. When you have to develop tons of animations for moves and a game involves various body types, some clipping and breakup are sure to happen now and then. Game freezing? Eh, you must have got a bad copy. Don't remember that ever happening to me. Worst wrestling game intro? Can't think of a bad one at the moment. It's hard to really think of one, because they usually try. Although one that jumps to mind is Saturday Night Slam Masters. Not terrible, but it's a just a guy who isn't in the game (Ortega) tearing his shirt off a la Hulk Hogan. That's it. Laaaame. It's like the Super Street Fighter II games' intro, only not anywhere near as cool. Although the art on it is good.

Oh, best competitive modes of play overall might have to go to Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth or HCTP. However, I'm pissed off that "I Quit" was ditched for HCTP so we could have fucking Bra and Panties matches.
