JoeDirt Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 What the hell was up with this match? It's a first blood cage match, and Flair does a huge blade job and is bleeding all over the place, and then beats Hogan by pinfall later on. Was this just a blunder on WCW's part calling it a first blood match? What happened?
cawthon777 Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Look who the referee was. It was the beginning of Lil Naitch. Though it was poorly executed, Charles Robinson was bending the rules to aid Flair. Flair walked out a heel, and with the belt, while Hogan walked out the cheated champion.
JoeDirt Posted February 9, 2004 Author Report Posted February 9, 2004 Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Dammit, should have caught that. Then Hogan had the whole knee inury thing at Stampede 99, and came back to take the title off Savage later. Thanks!
Guest Astro Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 He beat Nash for the title i think, He beat Savage in 98 after Savage beat Sting
Youth N Asia Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Yeah, that match stopped making sense long before it was over. But on the bright side the show opens with a very good Whipwreck/Kidman match.
BUTT Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 No, he beat Savage in '99 too. I know it's pretty easy to get that confused since the title changed hands so many times over that period. It went like this: Spring Stampede '98: Savage wins title from Sting Next night on Nitro: Hogan wins title from Savage Nitro, 7/6/98: Goldberg wins title from Hogan Starrcade '98: Nash wins title from Goldberg 1st Nitro of 1999: Hogan wins title from Nash ("fingerpoke of doom") Uncensored '99: Flair wins title from Hogan Spring Stampede '99: DDP wins title from Flair (4-way w/ Sting and Hogan) Nitro between Spring Stampede and Slamboree: Sting wins title from DDP, DDP wins title back same night in 4-way w/ Nash and Goldberg Slamboree '99: Nash wins title from DDP Bash at the Beach '99: Savage wins title from Nash in tag team match (Nash/Sting vs. Savage/Sid) Next night on Nitro: Hogan wins title from Savage

Why "in character" would Nash do that, and why "out of character" would they book that?
Corey_Lazarus Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 IC: Nash and Hogan formed the "nWo Elite," which was basically just the original nWo under the Wolfpac colors. Sucked. OOC: To try to get ratings, and to put the belt back on Hogan with Nash losing in the eyes of the fans.
JustJoe2k5 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 By that time both nWo rosters were probably at their weakest, so they just decided to put them all back together again in that match. It did spark a pretty cool shirt, the original nWo symbol with interchanging red and white lettering.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 If I'm not mistaken...that's the only time Flair pinned Hogan.
MillenniumMan831 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 If I'm not mistaken...that's the only time Flair pinned Hogan. He pinned him on Nitro in early 1996 with the help of either Woman's or Elizabeth's shoe. For the next 2 weeks, AA would get wins over the Hulkster.
