OldSchoolWrestling Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Vince Russo is expected to resume an on-air role with NWA: TNA soon. He has returned in a creative capacity for sometime now. Russo will likely be involved as the secret guy who has been telling Sonny Siaki not to join Jeff Jarrett. JoeDirt Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I really don't have a problem with this...he's a good on air character when he's not booking himself as a tough guy.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I have no problem with Russo as a manager. Though I don't think Siaki needs a mouthpiece.
Guest TDinDC1112 Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Russo as a heel manager is fine. Russo as the main character is not.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 WHY? Why exactly should these people be on the show? Is he really that much of an on air asset to TNA? I really don't think so.

I really don't think so. I'd have to disagree with that. Sure, he books crap now and then, but sometimes he can make the show great. I didn't become a regular TNA viewer until Russo came on T.V and started the SEX v. Tradition angle. It was a good storyline until it got out of hand with people joining for like a week (cough: Hot Shots) then never seen again for a few months. My only problem with Russo is if he books himself into matches, especially main events.

I don't mind him booking it. I just don't want him to be the focus of it, which I felt he was. It was always all about him. Just like it is with Jarrett now. I like his booking much better than Dutch Mantel, but at least Dutch is smart enough to stay offscreen.

The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 At least the storyline makes sense. That must mean someone wrote it for him. My only problem with Russo is that when he's on TV he becomes the main foil for Jarrett...instead of a worker.
eirejmcmahon Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 ...and we've already got Fairplay/Callis/Tenay as major on-air, non wrestling types cluttering up the show.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Yes. Fairplay's two minutes a week is getting out of control...
Astro101 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I'll reserve my judgement on Fairplay's role til I actually see this Piper's Pit segment. I did enjoy watching the jerk on Survivor a few times. As for Russo, I think there's too many non-wrestling talent on the air already, but things do need a little spicing up.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Damn that Mike Tenay for being the best PBP man in Wrestling (on TV atleast) and for making Don West seem like a passable Color Commentator. Time to send him back to WCW Saturday Night. I didn't realize he cut twenty minute promos and wrestled every weeks main event.
eirejmcmahon Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Damn that Mike Tenay for being the best PBP man in Wrestling (on TV atleast) and for making Don West seem like a passable Color Commentator. Pay attention there son - no-one's slagging off his commentary, it's his use in angles (as in his being positioned agaisnt Jarrett) that bugs me.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I agree with eirej on that one. As an actor...Tenay makes a great commentator. As I understand his storyline with Jarrett is going to come to a head tomorrow.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted February 11, 2004 Author Report Posted February 11, 2004 Who doesn't have a storyline with JJJ going right now?
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Who doesn't have a storyline with JJJ going right now? Don West. I think Jarrett pretends he doesn't exist. Even Tiny got beaten up more than him. Hell, has West or Tenay been beatin down period?
Guest JacK Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 Well, I thought they were going to do this a while back; for some reason it makes sense; and at least it'll get Siaki over a bit having Russo with him. I mean last time Russo managed tha champ; so it'd put Siaki up a bit you would hope. Siaki's decent enough I guess, sure; he's no Aj; but how many people are? I don't mind Siaki; that 'Clockwork Orange House of Pancakes' thing is still funny I think . . . pancakes . . . it's gold! Raven looked so . . . so serious, and there's Siaki with all his nonsense.
