dubq 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2004 Dunno if it's been mentioned but Capcom is releasing a Mega Man compillation in May on PS2 and Gamecube. Complete with 10 Mega Man games. Here's the link: http://www.capcom.com/xpml/game.xpml?gameid=750068 ...I can't wait for that! As if that weren't enough, I'm sure everyone has heard about Resident Evil: Outbreak, the online game. But, I've recently read on Capcom's site that not only can you play with four players online.. but you can also do so offline, all from the same console of course. That's so cool! I've been waiting forever for a multi-player Resident Evil game, online or not, and finally it's coming in March! The other awesome aspect of this is that apparently when your character dies, you turn undead and can attempt to kill your former partners! Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2004 You do know that Capcom's got like 10 Mega Man games coming out, right? ...no, I'm not talking about the compliation. I'm talking seriously. I counted up just about 10 games (think it was 8) that are coming out this year. Just sickening really.

I'm all about old school Mega Man, though. Especially MM2!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 Despite Game Informer being shitty for reviews, they have some good coverage. I haven't heard much new on RE:O, but 4 is going to be full 3D. You can shoot people above and below you, etc, go into different perspectives like Metal Gear Solid. Umbrella isn't around anymore, so it is moving in a new direction. You're Leon, and you're in a remote village in South America where the villagers are in a trance and trying to kill you. What is causing it? That's something that I guess you have to play the game for. Basically, no more zombies in the true sense, but apparently there are monsterous bosses still. Yet, kinda odd to keep the same name. "Resident Evil" still kinda fits, since it doesn't necessary have to mean zombies, but in Japan "Biohazard" won't exactly fit the title anymore, at least based on this info. Unfortunately, with a special TV to support the 16:9 ratio of the game...we're going to have to play it letterboxed. It's just coming out for Gamecube right now, but maybe in time it will go to another system. It looks fantastic right now. Hmm...apparently you're going to be trying to make your way through the jungle to survive. Maybe you'll have to eat snakes?
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 So you're telling me...that I can have Mega Man 1-8...on my PS2...for THIRTY DOLLARS AMERICAN? Ohmygod...ohmygod...ohmygod...I think I'm hyperventilating... If they come out with a Mega Man X pack (Wouldn't even have to be all of them; Just the SNES and PSOne versions - you know, the ones you can't already get on PS2) I think I'll wank off. I'd be a little peeved since I just ordered Mega Man X2, played X to death and X3 is supposed to be hard as hell, but yeah that'd be a great collection... Wait...1 through 8?! The six NES games, the Super Nintendo FREAKING RARE AS HELL Mega Man VII on SNES that the Ebay rapists charge a mint for, and the PS1 game? I was thinking it was just the NES games...but there I see it, at the link, on the Capcom official site. Damn, 7 alone would be worth the money, plus all the classics are on there, too. Graphics don't appear updated, unlike Mario All-Stars, but ah well. If the X collection came out, I'd hope they'd include the animated intros from the Saturn version of X3. I wonder if we'll see a Mega Man 9...the classic series should be carried on in some form, I think.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 I actually own 8 for the PS. It's not a bad little game, and the bolts are a neat addition. If you haven't played, basically you can collect bolts in each level, then trade them in for various upgrades, like a better Mega Buster, faster sliding, and lots of other stuff. The neat thing is that you can only have so many extra items, so you have to be wary about which ones you pick. But to be honest, I dunno if that was the first Mega Man game that happened in...I never played like, 6 or 7. The Mega Ball is an neat little weapon too. I find Mega Man X3 to be like most any other Mega Man as far as difficulty goes; that is, once you find the one boss you can beat without anything, the rest of them fall in fairly short order. I can't recall how hard the final boss is though, or if I ever actually beat the game, but I know I can tear through the 8 boss worlds, so it's not too too hard. I think I've beaten the game, but it's been a while now...Anyway, the annoying thing, I find, is that you pretty much need to go through a few of the worlds and die a few times, but grab some sub and heart tanks before you can take out one guy. On the plus side though, you can eventually end up with the Golden Armor and Zero's lightsaber, which makes you feel like a GOD among robots. I've also played X to death, and my god, I love it. I can pick it up, burn through it in an hour or two, and still have fun every time. Never played enough of X2 to really do anything, though. I am starting to think that they should kill the series, if only because the bosses are getting absurd. I mean, what the fuck is a Tenguman? Storm OWL? But there was already a Storm Eagle, you cunts! All in all, I stand by my statement that I'd blow a load if they released an X collection.
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 If the X collection came out, I'd hope they'd include the animated intros from the Saturn version of X3. I vote no on that. They're pretty lame. I don't think X3 is really much harder than the others. What bugs me though is the placement of the upgrades. Too much backtracking and the pacing is bad when following the weakness order. The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 Yeah, a real pain in the ass, especially when you need to have the Drill Claw to get the robot rides...because once you have the drill claw, there's really not much you need the rides for. And if the animated stuff is anything like on X4...I'm with Sakura. Visually, it's neat, but man, the translation just seems so odd in places.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2004 Megamans squeeky no balls voice in X4 was horrid. At least they used Japanese voices for the later games.

But to be honest, I dunno if that was the first Mega Man game that happened in...I never played like, 6 or 7. The Mega Ball is an neat little weapon too. Yup, I have it too. There's one bolt I'm missing and I have no idea where it is. However, I haven't bought any upgrades yet--I haven't needed them yet, but I know I will when I storm Wily's crib. 8 did some things right that 7 didn't. After Mega Man X, it was hard for a lot of people go back to the regular Megaman, who couldn't wall cling or collect a bunch of special upgrades. So 7, while a good game, was overlooked since it was looked upon as inferior because it lacked a lot of the touches in X. Plus, the art style in VII was probably thought of as inferior to the "cooler" new X look. 8 was like a middle ground between the classic games and the X games. Mega Man himself resembles what X would look like at the start of the X games (sans special armor) and the enemies are cartoony but more realistic-looking than in 7. The bolts help you purchase upgrades. The Mega Ball is pretty useful at times too, and a lot of the weapons actually have special uses. Most of the classic Mega Man titles' boss weapons are just different-looking projectiles. In 8, the Thunder Claw is a blatant ripoff of Samus' grapple beam, the Mega Ball is similar to Samus' bombs but also is similar to the richochet weapon in Symphony of the Night when it is kicked., the Tornado Hold aids in getting to high places and can cover your ass when surrounded, the Ice Wave goes along the ground and ices hard-to-reach enemies, the Flame Sword is a short-range melee weapon, Astro Crush is a powerful screen-clearing attack, Homing Sniper seeks out enemies, Flash Bomb explodes on impact, damaging enemies near the impact, and the Water Balloon...is a worthless piece of crap. And yeah, 8 is the first regular Mega Man game like that.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2004 After Mega Man X, it was hard for a lot of people go back to the regular Megaman A pain I know all too well. I dunno, it just seems that the old games are really slow now, mainly because you can't dash. They're still fun, just...slow, it seems.

I dunno, it just seems that the old games are really slow now, mainly because you can't dash. They're still fun, just...slow, it seems. Heh, it's been a while since I played the X games, and forgot about the dashing. Yeah, that's another big part, too. The wall-clinging, dashing on the ground and the air, etc made the games play quite different. I forgot all about the games released on Game Boy. The Mega Man Xtremes for Game Boy (Color) wouldn't be much of a big deal to me, though. How are the Game Boy games, though? Anyone play them? I believe there are 6 in total, and the GBA collection lets you play them in black and white or color.
Anya 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2004 Ive played Xtreme. It's ok, for a gameboy game. Hard to do advanced movements on it because of the controls.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2004 How are the Game Boy games, though? Anyone play them? Own all five of the gameboy megamans. The first four mix the robot masters from the series. (Megaman 1 has half the robot masters from Megaman 1 and 2, Megaman 2 has half the robot master of Megaman 2 and 3 and so on) Each megaman title has an exclusive Robot master as well. The best ones to look for are Megaman 3 and 4. Oh and Megaman 5 is a totally new game, introducing Tango the cat, brand new robot masters and the Quick Boomera...I mean "mega arm". While its great that everything is brand new and all the mega arm just plain out blows and the game just doesnt feel right.
