Austin3164life Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 We've all been talking about Wrestlemania XX now for a long time, and since it's getting the WWE hype treatment of DOOM~! I'm wondering who MSG is going to cheer/boo the most, which matches will get the most fan participation. Here are my picks. Biggest pops: -Brock Lesnar -The Rock *assuming he's there* -John Cena -Chris Benoit Biggest heat: -Triple H -Goldberg (I'd say more tweenerish) -Shawn Michaels (see above)
Guest Besus Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Undertaker will get the biggest entrance reaction. Benoit(If he does win) will get biggest winning reaction. Goldberg will get the biggest heel reaction. I'll probally change this though.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I think Eddie will get a huge pop if he drives his lowrider in and has THE WWE title around his waist.
haVoc Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 No doubt Taker. They should keep him off tv until Mania. Also, Hogan when he makes a surprise appearance.
Downhome Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I'll go as far to say that Goldberg will be the biggest heel on the entire show. Not booked that way, but in terms of reaction. I can easily see the crowd up north basicly in WWE's home building, getting totally behind WWE's personally created Brock Lesnar, as they totally turn their back on the southern boy down from WCW. If it's Goldberg's last match, it'll be fitting anyway.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Last time Goldberg wrestled at MSG (against Mack, I believe) he got the biggest pop on the show.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Austin will get a huge pop when he gives Goldberg the stunner to cost him the match with Brock.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 See...MSG loves Goldberg.
Downhome Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Last time Goldberg wrestled at MSG (against Mack, I believe) he got the biggest pop on the show. Well I can understand that, it's freaking Rodney Mack.
Guest Besus Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Goldberg always get cheered when he's facing a Heat winner or 1/2 of a low/mid carder in a tag team. He got cheered when he faced guys like Storm,Christian,Mack and Rico but when he faced Y2J,Flair,Rock and HBK.He got boos.
The Tino Standard Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 MSG also went bonkers for Lesnar at SurSer '02. Put those two in the ring together and trust me, Lesnar will be getting much bigger pops than Goldberg.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Oh, I agree. I'm just pointing out that Goldberg has fans in MSG.
cawthon777 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I see Benoit getting major face heat. MSG respects those with actual talent (the Hogan years aside).
Guest Choken One Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I think Eddie will get a huge pop if he drives his lowrider in and has THE WWE title around his waist. Um...Mark Henry can barely fit in the entrance way...Unless Eddy rides a Low Ryder Tricycle...That isn't happening...
Guest Choken One Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 although That makes me Wonder how they set the entrance way up... It would be a nice nod to WMX to have the Screen Door... Personally, I'd say No fancy set...Just the tiny enterance with the tiny logo on top...
Austin3164life Posted February 11, 2004 Author Report Posted February 11, 2004 I say biggest pop goes to Brock defeating Goldberg clean in the ring.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I don't see Benoit getting a pop anywhere near Brock or Taker(who's pop will crush all the others combined). Also Bret and/or Hogan will get MONSTER pops if they show up.
Austin3164life Posted February 11, 2004 Author Report Posted February 11, 2004 Where would The Rock fit in all this if he appears?
Guest Trivia247 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 the MSG wrestling crowd is a unique breed of wrestling fans altogether...independant thinkers and loud poppers... as Philly's ECW crowd would be. it would depend how smarky the crowd is for Goldberg.....If they don't keep up with the internet stuff then they will probably POP big for Goldberg because its his first Wrestlemania.. however... If they are smarkish and know Goldberg's attitude backstage and basically going to walk away after Mania...then they will boo him..
jester Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I want to see the ring carts brought back.
Highland Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I want to see the ring carts brought back. That would be nice.
Austin3164life Posted February 11, 2004 Author Report Posted February 11, 2004 Benoit's win will also be a huge pop, I believe. Especially if he pins Triple H. Cena's pop will most likely come from his pre or post-match rap (rapoff?). Brock and Undertaker will get monstrous ovations.
The Tino Standard Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I doubt the ring carts will come back this year, given that MSG has the shortest aisle of any venue when it is set up for PPVs. Having said that, don't rule out Eddie in a low-rider. Last year for Mysterio's entrance at SurSer, they had an alternate stage set up where the normal entrance in most arenas would be (behind the announcers to the far left from the main camera). They could probably get a car through there. As for the set, I'd like to see the WM logo at the top of the entrance with double doors, each having half of the "XX" logo on them. Make them in white-outlined neon or something similar to that logo they've had hanging at all the PPVs.
ChrisMWaters Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 although That makes me Wonder how they set the entrance way up... It would be a nice nod to WMX to have the Screen Door... Personally, I'd say No fancy set...Just the tiny enterance with the tiny logo on top... You know...I'm not sure which came first, but I always liked the look of the WrestleMania 10 and the old WCW Saturday Night sets...with the sliding doors. Just gave more of a mystique to the entrances to me.
Austin3164life Posted February 11, 2004 Author Report Posted February 11, 2004 WM 15's prop on the entrance was pretty cool. If they do something like that, but with white lights outlining it, and each "X" as a door (homage to WM X), then it'll look excellent. I think it could fit one of those small Chevy lowriders in the isle.
haVoc Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I also like the main camera set up for MSG. WMX, Rumble 2k, SurSer 2002. I also like when the camera is set up so the guys come down on the right side. Little change once in a while is nice.
Guest wildpegasus Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 MSG will probably be pretty alive for everyone but I'm not sure how much of the normal crowd will be there. Benoit and ANgle got positive reactions as heels during the Survivor Series. Benoit was way over when he wrestled the Big Show at MSG the last time the Smackdown tour was there.
The Tino Standard Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 I also like the main camera set up for MSG. WMX, Rumble 2k, SurSer 2002. I also like when the camera is set up so the guys come down on the right side. Little change once in a while is nice. I understand what you're saying, but I think you're a bit deceived. They position the main camera at MSG in the same spot as they would at any other arena. The difference is that the entry way for the wrestlers/players to come through there is in the middle of the sidelines, instead of down in a corner of the arena. That's why the aisle there is so short- it's coming from where the scorers' table in basketball would be. The really odd thing about this is that the Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey is the exact same way for basketball, but they always put the entrance for wrestling down at the end like any other arena. Maybe they just like that old school look at MSG. No complaints here.
