Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 15, 2004 Is this DVD really worth buying for a Flair fan? Is there alot of NWA/WCW footage or is there a major WWe bias? If WWe injects their own vision of history into it, I'd have no interest in it. If it's an unbiased look into the history of Ric Flair, I'm on it. Also, is $20 a fair price for it? I can get it for $20 on DeepDiscountDVD.com, but was wondering if that's the best price out there.
Insane Bump Machine 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2004 You should own it already, even if you weren't a fan of him. The first two DVD's are ALL NWA/WCW and everything's awesome. Just read Dames' review of the first two discs.

WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2004 $20 is a great damn price for it. For a Flair fan it is more than worth it as you get all the key matches from his major runs. The only knocks I would put against it is that you don't get things like the feuds with Ronnie Garvin and Kerry Von Erich that I would like to have had and the latter part of Flair's career is glossed over. You do get tons of extras and old NWA footage. The discs cover the feuds with Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Barry Windham, Sting, Terry Funk, Ricky Steamboat, the Rumble '92 win and the match with Hunter, but that's about the only time it gets really heavy on the WWE love. There's already talks of doing a second set and there is still more great stuff out there to put on it, such as the Starrcade '88 match with Luger and the Wrestlemania 8 match with Savage. I haven't heard anyone say a bad word about it and even if you don't like the disc, you could sell it pretty easily in a number of locations.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 15, 2004 You should own it already, even if you weren't a fan of him. Yeah I know, but for some reason I never got around to looking into it. I feared a WWe bias ruining it, so there was no way I'd buy it blind without knowing if there was a bias.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2004 I wasn't that impressed with it. While I like the whole matches I wish they would have added a few more, they could have clipped them pretty good. They seemed to leave out a lot.

No love for the former Pizza Hut executive and manager of a Kansas City tv station. How can you like someone who demanded a hair cut?

While I like the whole matches I wish they would have added a few more, they could have clipped them pretty good. They seemed to leave out a lot. Don't rule out a 2nd set due to great sales. I'm glad they put the matches in their entirety as well as most of the build up from television. How would a 3-disc FLAIR DVD be WWE bias?! He's only been a WWE person about 4 years in his entire career and near 20 with WCW.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2004 If you knew nothing about his WWF run and based it on the DVD you'd think he did the Rumble and left...they could have gone a little into the Macho stuff.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 15, 2004 I didn't mean a WWe bias as far as footage. I just meant it as in WWe giving it their spin or making attempts to rewrite history.

Oh....hmm...besides the matches and footage, we only see Flair introduce each feud, so it's not much to change.

You should know by now that if it makes money for Vince, he'll beat that dead horse.

His Starrcade '93 match against Vader on DVD would do fucking justice. Now if they can only work out a deal with Jesse...
