Brock Lesnar

As intriguing as this question may be, I think the more important, and perhaps more distressing as well, is WHERE he will be and WHAT will he be doing?

In less than 2 years, he has been WWE Undisputed Champion multiple times, been featured in multiple major storylines-- many of which have been drastically different, and formed at least one great rivalry with Kurt Angle.

In 5 years, or really, in less a year or two, he'll probably be moved to Raw-- freshening things up, but not really that much. Being at the top of in one company for only 4 years and gone through more or less everything there is to do, is not a good thing.

Heck, the one thing that some people like Hogan, Goldberg, and other old greats have going for them is the opportunity for some dream matchup-- Brock will have completed his in 27 days.

On one level, it impresses me, on another, it worries me.

The Undertaker was in the same situation. Placed in the main event almost as soon as he debuted. Over ten years later, despite you may think about him, he's still going strong.

Who else is there besides Angle and Eddie that would really work well with Lesnar?

Gwhaaaaaaaaaaaa? Didn't you justy post an article that pointed out that Brock pulled good matches out of The Big Show? Hell, the less time Brock spends in a ring with Angle the better since they don't seem to gell despite all evidence that they should be producing these consistant blow away matches.

Anyway, I've said it before but I'll say it again. Brock Lesnar is the most physically gifted wrestler ever. If his head ever catches up with his body, he'll be so good no one will complain about him being on top for the years and hopefully decace to come.

Well, Billy Gunn got a huge, insane push over and over and over again and still never got over.

When exactly was this big insanely huge Billy Gunn push people keep talking about? Because I must have missed it when he was World Champion ... or contended for the World title... or got a shot at the World title. He gets a start-stop push every couple of years just like most of the veteran midcarders. None of those ever mean a damn thing.

Brock's wrestling skills sucked when he was a rookie, i think it was around the time he won the Royal Rumble when he started earning his paycheck. But if his babyface run didn't work then he would be getting the Orton push.

I actually made a post about this a while back and was told I was crazy. Now most seem to agree with what I said. If Lesnar stays relatively injury free, dosen't get to caught up in ego, and continues to develop at the pace that he is on now, he will be considered the best american wrestler ever. Those are all very big ifs, but he already does the little things right that so few ever do. He knows how to tell a story in the ring and how to work the crowd. If he continues on this path the sky is the limit for Lesnar. Honestly he is already a top ten big man and he is only 25.

The Undertaker was in the same situation. Placed in the main event almost as soon as he debuted. Over ten years later, despite you may think about him, he's still going strong.

The main difference there is that 'Taker wrestled longer feuds with slower build. He probably made 3-4 TV appearances a year, if that, and he was constantly reinventing himself and tweaking his character. Most of his feuds involved him going away for sometimes months at a time before reappearing and exacting revenge.

The use of Taker prior to 2000 was brilliant and calculated, and every appearance he had usually had a major impact.

From 1990-1995, 'Taker had the following feuds:

*Ultimate Warrior

*Hulk Hogan

*Jake Roberts

*Kamala

*Giant Gonzales

*Yokozuna

*Kama

*Mabel

That's eight feuds over the course of five years.

From 2002-2004, Lesnar had had the following feuds:

*Hardy Boyz

*Bubba Ray Dudley

*Rob Van Dam

*The Rock

*Undertaker

*Big Show

*Kurt Angle

*John Cena

*Chris Benoit

*Hardcore Holly

*Eddy Guerrero

*Bill Goldberg

That's 12 feuds over the course of two years.

If you break it down even more, from 1990-1992, Taker only had four feuds, in Warrior, Hogan, Jake and Kamala.

If you look at it even closer, Taker's first two years average two new opponents a year while Brock's have averaged six.

Lesnar is going through his options at a much faster pace. HHH, Jericho, Michaels and Kane still exist as possibilities, and he could still pick up again in the future with Cena, Eddy, Benoit, RVD or Angle, but overall, if you put him next to 'Taker, he's going at lightning speed.

This heel turn has done wonders for the quality of Brock's work. He turned from a no-selling bland hoss to a great wrestler. I mean he's probably the only wrestler who can have entertaining matches with every one. From the biggest of the big (the Big Show) to the smallest of the small (Rey Mysterio) and everyone between.

And from someone who needed Heymen as his mouthpiece to someone who can cut effective promos. If WWE are smart they should have him stay as a heel untill summerslam 2005 so he would have his mic skills and in-ring skills totally formed, after that push him as the top face for a MEGA win at WM2006 over HHH where The Game finally pass the torch to him. Unlike those who fear for Brock's future, I actually see nothing but a bright future for this great young kid.

I would think Brock's push and popularity are more analogous to the Undertaker's actually. They both came in as monster heels and dominated the competition, grabbing the title in short order. Then once both were established the belts were taken off them, but the image of "the dominant big man of the fed" remained, leading to any number of interesting pairings of matches that did not require a belt to get heat. Now granted it also led to Taker/Giant Gonzalez, but you get the point.

L4W, you also forgot about the short feud between Brock and Hulk Hogan prior to Rock.

Lesnar's big options at this point are HHH, Kane, Shawn, a returning Edge. I also believe that Deadman Taker is practically a new opponent depending on how much of his original character he keeps. A good old-school Undertaker Vs Big Guy casket match could still pop some buys as long as the fued is kept short.

Of course, I also think Austin is still a possibility, as he could probably take it excluding chairs, Germans, and the F-5, and he's kind of in debt of a job having skipped town on Lesnar once, and then later said he'd play ball if the build was right.
