Karnage 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 When DVDs were still new, Warner Brothers released a 25th anniversary edition of probably the first movie you think of when you think of martial arts or Bruce Lee, Enter The Dragon. The DVD was a flipper and most of the features were reading and the commentary wasn't that great. Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted February 25, 2004 I still like watching the movie to see Bruce Lee break that guy's arm. Man that is one shot I sure they were thinking that we have a few more good takes in this, only to go, let's move onto the next scene. Shame Bruce Lee passed away before really taking the Martial Arts movie genre to the next level. Even though I still love Jackie Chan's movies based on comedy and his pretty varied skills, but I digress. This is a great film, and shoudl be seen at least once by all Kung Fu movie lovers. razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 Considering that Jean Claude Van Damn whole career was based on making remakes of this movie and the fact that Jet Li's best movie is a remake of a Bruce Lee movie, I would agree.
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted February 25, 2004 I'm glad I haven't bought the original yet. I'm certainly getting this.

Best Jet Li movie I've seen (Black Mask) is more of an homage to a Bruce Lee character. Anyways, it's hard to top Bruce. The guy was just amazing with the choreography in his fight scenes. But the thing that I think really set his movies aside from all those that followed is the fact that Bruce was scary fast.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 I remember making my older sister take me to this movie back in the late 70's early 80's. I don't even remember why it was being re-released at the time but I loved that movie loved it again when I bought it a year ago. I even remember my older brother back in the 70's having a Bruce Lee poster from this movie where he has those awesome slashes on his face and ribs.

Its the one where the mentor is killed by a rival martial arts school run by Japanese and has Li/Lee return home for revenge on the evil imperialist outsiders. Van Damn just did 4 or so movies with fight tournments (Bloodsport, Lionheart, The Quest, Kickboxer)
Guest The Ohtani of Time Report post Posted February 26, 2004 As far as I'm concerned, Enter the Dragon will always be the standard to which all other martial arts movies are compared to. And, Bruce Lee will always be the standard to which all othere martial artists are compared to. I'm not trying to knock the current Kung Fu actors like Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat and Jackie Chan, I think they are really good, but they just don't have the intensity that Bruce Lee had, nor the charisma and definately not the speed or reflexes. (He also had one of the best lat spreads of all time too!) just for fun, here's a list of top 5 favourite Bruce Lee movie scenes. 5. (Enter the Dragon) The showdown with O'Hara (he killed Bruce's sister), they both cross arms with each other and bruce uses his superior speed to punch him in the face, it's so fast that it looks like a camera trick, but it's not. 4. (Enter the Dragon) Same scene, but near the end just after Bruce Kills O'Hara by jumping on his chest, it goes into slow motion and focuses on Bruce's face and he's got this insane look on his face, almost like he's going out of his mind, and there is this really creepy music playing in the background. 3.(Fist of Fury) for some reason, bruce's character refuses to fight in the movie, but when a baddie breaks his medallion, he loses it and goes on a rampage. 2.(Game of death) The three bosses that he has to fight in the temple, awesome! awesome! awesome! one of them uses a couple of sticks, the other is a judo or jiu jitsu expert and the last is Kareem Abdul Jabar. 1.(The Chinese Connection) The finishing blow that Bruce gives to the Russian martial artist is just plain sick and I love it

Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris. Also, a lot of people still haven't seen Jackie Chan's more kung-fu-esque movies from the early days of his career. I still think Bruce Lee is the best, but those old Jackie Chan flicks were sure killer too.

His best film from his younger days is definately Drunken Master (not the recent one made a few years ago, although it is good)
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2004 Well Drunken Master and Eagle in Snake Fist are the 2 best Jackie Chan movies early in his career because Simon Yuen as Sam Seed carried Jackie Chan to world superstar.
