Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted February 25, 2004 SEN. John Edwards lost some votes in the disabled community the other night when he failed to provide a sign language interpreter during a speech in Rochester, and then patted a wheelchair-bound woman on the head. "It seems that Sen. Edwards lacks disability etiquette," Debbie Bonomo, who has cerebral palsy, said in a news release from the Center for Disability Rights. "Just because I am a woman who uses a wheelchair does not mean anyone should be patting me on the head. That is so 1950s." Edwards spokesman Colin Van Ostern told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle: "I'm sure his interaction with them was intended to be respectful."

Edwards spokesman Colin Van Ostern told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle: "I'm sure his interaction with them was intended to be respectful." The fuck?! Apparently he forgot to say "Who's a good cripple? You are! That's right; you are, you adorable little thing! Cootchie cootchie coo!" He's lost my potenial vote and a lot of others unless he redeems himself pretty goddamn fast. The Joe Scarboroughs, Bill O'Reillys and Sean Hannitys across the nation can/will have a field day with this.

Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted February 25, 2004 (edited) Eh, I'll still vote for him. To me, this is a case of him momentarily being an idiot, which happens to everybody. Of course, I live in Massachusetts, so there's no way Edwards is winning here. Ugh, I detest Kerry. (I don't intend to take this off-topic, but I needed to say that.) What does Edwards have to do with the Bush administration's fuck-ups? Besides, I was going to vote for him mainly because he's from my area and he isn't going to win anyway(gotta root for the underdog!), but shit like that just makes me think "We're fucked no matter who wins, so to hell with voting". Every president since Eisenhower has been a moron on some level, be it infidelity, bigotry, or just plain stupidity.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 25, 2004 oooh...I'm deaf... WELL FUCK YOU EDWARDS! Wait...Deaf people aren't like black people...we don't complain about shit...We don't care that there wasn't a sign interpreter there. Deaf People stopped using sign language 10 years ago...no one else has stopped to notice.

Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2004 Sorta like the difference between legally blind and blind. I had a legally blind judge at a debate tournament, but she could see enough to tell me to 'stop swaying'. Damnit.
