Phoenix Fury Legdrop 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 Before an attendance of 87 at the Lafayette, IN National Guard Armory.... Steve Stone d. Skeeter Frost (Frost's IWA debut; Steve practically murdered the guy with chops and forearms; Frost's chest looked brutal.) Jim Fannin, Brad Bradley, and Ryan Boz had an interview segment here, where they basically announced that Fannin's lawyers got the TLC stip pulled from B'n'B's later match with Matt Sydal and Delirious. "The Tremendous" Emil Sitoci d. "Arch Angel" Gabriel and Nick Halen (replacing an injured "Kool" Seth DeLay) in a three-way dance (Opening parts with all three were a little iffy, but Gabriel and Sitoci had a good eight-minute match to themselves after Halen was eliminated) SALVATORE RINAURO~! d. Cru Jones (Sadly, not one of Sal's best matches, but it wasn't too bad. Sal pulled out the win after rolling Cru up with a schoolboy and pulling the ropes) Daizee Haze d. Lacey Danny Daniels (w/ Jim Fannin) d. Austin Aries (Really, really good stuff here; Aries worked the head of Daniels's due to Daniels's recent nose and ear surgeries, while Danny worked Aries's back. Aries nailed the brainbuster and 450 splash for near-falls, the second of which Jim Fannin pulled Austin out of the ring. Daniels then rolled Austin up, and like Sal vs. Cru, Danny used the ropes to win. If this is any indication, their match at ROH's Do or Die II convention show in New Jersey in March should be off-the-charts.) Ian Rotten d. BJ Whitmer (w/ Jim Fannin handcuffed to a fan in the front row) (A lot of pre-match chicanery, with Fannin asking to be handcuffed to a 4-year-old...and the kid proceeded to flip Fannin the bird. Pretty good match here, and BJ actually looked kind of charismatic. I dug the matwork, and Ian laid in some pretty good headbutts. Post-match, Danny Daniels jumped Ian, leading to Nate Webb, Cru Jones, and Austin Aries making the save. Ian then announced for next month in Lafayette that he and Steve Stone would wrestle BJ & Daniels in a stretcher match.) Brad Bradley & Ryan Boz d. Delirious & Matt Sydal (To say Delirious is over in Lafayette would be an understatement. The man got FIVE "Stem-Cell Research" chants without even bringing the subject up. Sydal & Delirious got off to a hot start before B'n'B took over. Delirious was the wacky face-in-peril as B'n'B pummeled him. Delirious eventually got the hot tag, but it was all for naught, as Bradley and Boz won when Bradley powerbombed Delirious off of the top rope, and through a table despite refusing the TLC stipulation earlier in the night.) JC Bailey d. "Spyder" Nate Webb in a steel cage match (Good match with a bunch of insane spots, including a Russian legsweep off the top rope, a Soylent Green (Canadian Backbreaker/over-the-shoulder powerbomb flipped into a DDT) from Nate Webb off the top rope, a missed Chairsault from Nate off the top of the cage, and JC finishing Nate off with a Barstown Jam (flying legdrop) off the top of the cage. Post-match, JC pummeled Nate some more with the chairs before leaving, and Ian Rotten proclaimed that next Saturday in Highland, Nate and JC's feud would end in a Texas Death Match.) NOTES: Attendance was hiked up by about thirty people from last month....I don't know if it's just me not going to many shows besides IWA or what, but the crowd at the show was unbelievably hot for just about everything...The show was filmed on two cameras by the new production team...Sad note to announce, as during the first intermission, a fan was taken to the hospital after suffering what I heard was a seizure in the parking lot...The Oolitic show next Friday has been moved to Sunday due to the Oolitic building being double-booked on Friday...IWA "Best of 2003" DVD's are still available, and I heard they moved at least five or six tonight, and sold ten at Oolitic last weekend...a non-stipulation Ian Rotten & Steve Stone vs. BJ Whitmer and Danny Daniels match with the winners advancing to the IWA Mid-South World Tag Team Title Tournament in May was announced as taking place in Oolitic next weekend....Overall, another really good show from IWA Mid-South. Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 Why are you laughing at them? Next time you find an XPW washup that takes time out of his busy day of selling drugs to do an interview, remind me to make a post like "ROTFLMAO."
Guest Markingout Report post Posted February 29, 2004 I would take an IWA-MS show with a crowd of 10 over any XPW show at all. Also, atleast IWA survives with a crowd below 100. As for the show it sounded pretty good. IWA is definatly making new stars in BJ Whitmer, the Gateway guys, and Nate Webb.
Guest PowerPB13 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 It's great to see that the Gateway crew is making a name for themselves in IWA Mid-South as well as elsewhere. While Matt unfortunately no longer competes for GCW, he got his start there, and I look forward to hearing where his career ends up taking him. -Patrick http://members.aol.com/PowerPB13/gcwpics.htm

Phoenix Fury Legdrop 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 You can laugh at that all you want, but consider that, according to what one of the street team guys was telling me, no one in Lafayette is accepting of flyers to promote. Also, and I'd have to go back and check, but I think this outdrew AJ Styles's one Lafayette appearance in December.

Also, and I'd have to go back and check, but I think this outdrew AJ Styles's one Lafayette appearance in December. Alright, time for some fuckin verbal asskickin. I wasn't even laughing so much at the fact they got 87. I was laughing at how the very first thing in the post of these results said "in front of 87 people" or something like that. I thought it was funny that the first thing I read was that there was such a small attendance, but I wasn't laughing so much at the size as much as the fact that it was posted where it was in the post. Stacy McMackin's official results doesn't post attendances. You did, and when I combined the placement of the attendance in the post and size of it, what I came out with was this - that a funny statement had been made. But then again, I guess the LOL-style commands can be taken out of context on the Internet, right? Lord almight... And I had absolutely no intention of bringing up XPW, but if other people are, they know how big a fan I was of them...so I'll say this - the reason XPW got such low attendances was because they expanded too quickly. And the reason they expanded too quickly was because they wanted to get a professional look to them...to stop running in Pico Rivera and shitslums like that and run in a real historic building, Viking Hall, where magazines would fucking cover them, contrary to what they did when they were in Cali. The reason IWA-MS draws so shitty is that Ian is too hesitant to take risks - to see if running in bigger buildings would get them more exposure and therefore higher attendance. As GQ Money told me in my interview with him... "XPW took risks, XPW had balls, and XPW did things the XPW way." I couldn't have said it better. Now people should know not to antagonize me, LOL, because they know I get lured in easy. I was NOT laughing at the attendance from the perspective that it was shitty as much as the way it was expressed in the post. God...take it easy, like I said. Now who overreacted now? I think a few people that posted above me...

Guest Deviant Report post Posted March 1, 2004 Wait a minute... XPW had fans? For my personal tastes, this show doesn't sound too good. I won't be buying it.
Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted March 1, 2004 (edited) No "Kool" Seth DeLay makes me sad. Oh well, one day a promotion besides Wildside will get to see the greatness of this guy. Most importantly Tom: did you FINALLY get the Spyder Nate Webb autograph I asked for 5 shows ago? Edited March 1, 2004 by DuskTillDawn
