Insane Bump Machine Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 um...it was a typo.... Oh, OK then. It's just that you did it the whole thread
El Psycho Diablo Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 There are some really bitter people in this thread, aren't there? Nice to see LOTR getting things. I'm not bitter, I thought ROTK was a good movie, but just that good. I didn't get caught up in this LOTR-fandom, OMG THE BEST MOVIE EVER, bullshit. I don't get caught up in the "OMG BEST MOVIE EVER" crap like other people do, either. I liked ROTK, and thought it was better than other movies people were throwing the "best movie ever" awards at (*cough* Kill Bill *cough*)
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 um...it was a typo.... Oh, OK then. It's just that you did it the whole thread the similarties between lotr and Triple H are so fucking similar here...I'm getting confused.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 Here is my problem with those that want Lord of the Rings to lose. They seem to spend all their time tearing down Lord of the Rings, rather than say who should win.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 who else you think will get a tribute piece? Ritter? I know he was primarily a "TV" actor but he was a pretty good screen actor as well
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Here is my problem with those that want Lord of the Rings to lose. They seem to spend all their time tearing down Lord of the Rings, rather than say who should win. Mystic River and Lost in Translation were better movies...and should win. I said that early on.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 Gregory Peck will get a tribute piece. That's probably it.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 *slaps face* Forgot about Peck... Too many fucking people dying...

Which one should win? Your argument would be better if you keep saying about how Mystic River/Lost In Translation should win, rather than give reasons Return of the King shouldn't win.
bobobrazil1984 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 go ROTK!!!!!! (though I will also accept lost in translation since it was so damn good)
Insane Bump Machine Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I just watched To Kill A Mockingbird and Cape Fear last week. Gregory Peck better get a nice tribute. Ritter? No.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I just think it blows that 21 grams wasn't nominated
NoCalMike Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Here is my problem with those that want Lord of the Rings to lose. They seem to spend all their time tearing down Lord of the Rings, rather than say who should win. Lost in Translation and/or Mystic River were better, IMO. Also I personally thought FOTR was the best one of the three.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 Yeah, but what was better? Lost in Translation or Mystic River?
NoCalMike Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Yeah, but what was better? Lost in Translation or Mystic River? what does it matter really? I feel that two nominated movies are better ROTK. If I had to pick one I would go with LIT...
MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I think Peter Jackson will have a better chance of winning best Director with his King Kong remake, but Return of the King deserves to win best picture.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Simply Put, I don't enjoy "fantasy" movies and thought ROTK didn't live up to the GREATEST MOVIE EVER hype. I enjoyed Lost In Translation the most but I believe Mystic River had the best ACTING... If this was last year, I'd easily take ROTK over Chicago, I don't think ROTK should win simply because of the ENTIRE trio's goodness and leave Mystic and LIT out...That's the impression i've been getting from critics is that ROTK is winning to commemorate the ENTIRE trio...which I believe is unfair to LIT and Mystic, which I felt were better movies.
Downhome Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 My favorite way to sum up how I think Mystic River was the best film of 2003 is simple. I feel that it was just the tightest film, the performances, the screenplay, the plot, the feel, just everything. It just felt very tight to me, everything fell into place just perfectly. It's the tightest film that I've seen in years.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 It matters because even if Mystic River in your case wins, it would still be the wrong choice. You should be cheering for a particular movie, not cheering for anything but a particular movie. From the way people are talking on here, they would be happy if Seabiscuit won Best Picture. Just as long as it isn't LOTR.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Yeah, but what was better? Lost in Translation or Mystic River? Lost. I think the point, though, was both were better than LotR.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I haven't seen Master and Commander, and I can't say I felt Seabuscuit was worthy of it when 21 Grams got screwed.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 Yeah, but what was better? Lost in Translation or Mystic River? Lost. I think the point, though, was both were better than LotR. But if Mystic River won, that would be like the Yankees losing the World Series not mattering, just as long as they beat Boston. You get no points for second place. Lost In Translation still loses, whether it be to LOTR or Mystic River.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 WHY ARE SO FUCKING HARD UP ON THE FACT WE DON'T FEEL ROTK SHOULD WIN BEST PICTURE? We've all said we felt LIT or Mystic was better, Personally, I believe LIT was the best movie but if Mystic won, I wouldn't feel bad for that since it was equally a great movie...
Downhome Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The Fog of War picks up it's Oscar, and I'm 7/10.

Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 LOVE THAT LINE! Kinda had a "what the fuck took you so long?" zing to it.
