EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 http://www.komotv.com/stories/30001.htm Mother Leaves Baby Locked In Idling Car For 45 Minutes February 26, 2004 By Michelle Esteban SEATTLE - A mother is in hot water after leaving her baby alone in her car with the engine running for at least 45 minutes. The doors were all locked and the 9-month-old girl was alone on a busy street outside a grocery store in Fremont. That's what Jeff Norman with Child Protective Services calls an invitation to a crime. "No car is safe from a break-in, we have many cars stolen everyday and it could be that car with the keys in it and the baby in the back," he said. A witness spotted the baby and called 911. She reported a baby all alone and no signs of her parent. The infant was clutching her blanket and crying. Seattle officers tried to quiet the baby from outside the car. Police say 45 minutes after the witness spotted the baby girl, her mother showed up. KOMO 4 News was there as she told police what happened. She said she and baby needed some food. "I ran in to get us some lunch, 'cause I knew she'd be waking up soon and would be hungry," the mother explained. Again, police ask why she would leave her baby. "She was asleep when I went in," the woman said. "It's not safe, it's not safe," said Norman. He can't comment on this case specifically, but says in general "people should use good judgment and use their best judgment and not leave young children unattended in a car. The best rule is don't do it." "You ran in how long ago, about an hour ago?" asked the officer. "It's probably been like 20 minutes. I meant to go in for like, 10. Just grab us some lunch and come back out," argued the mother. Police let her leave with the baby because she was breastfeeding, but the officers filed an endangered child report. That means they want the prosecutors office to consider criminal charges. Police say they plan to forward their findings to CPS to decide if the baby will be safe with its mother. "Child safety is paramount so we're going to look first and foremost at that," said Norman. Mom told police it wasn't her fault, she says the checker at the grocery store was slow and that's why she was so late. KOMO 4 News tried contacting her for comment, but she has not responded to our request. Yeah sure it's the store's fault that you left your baby in the car for 45 minutes. Dumb bitch. Guest stardust Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Sadly, this shit happens all the time here in Texas, and during the summer when it's 120 degrees outside nonetheless.

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2004 Why do parents always do this shit. Seriously, you don't leave your kids in the car alone when they are toddlers and incapable of fulling grasping concepts and being able to take care of themselves. This shit happened like a year or two ago in Detroit where the stupid bitch left i believe two or three yougn children in the car all day while she was getting her fucking hair done. I think all the kids died, and she talked about how it was an accident. Then we had another dumbass lady that left her baby with a total stranger so she could go back and get her purse. Stuff like this just pisses me off and I am just thankful my parents were afraid of leaving us in the car unattended until i was about 11.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted March 2, 2004 If the car was running and the doors were locked how did she plan on getting back in? Anyways this is one of those things that happens all the time but rarely makes the news.

That's what those passcode thingies were for? I thought it was for like some sort of new alarm that needs to be manually armed and like shoots bb-bullets at criminals or something. Seriously though, stupid bitch. Why is it people like her get away with crap like this?

Anyways this is one of those things that happens all the time but rarely makes the news. Keyless entry? U know...those cars with the little passwords on the door handle and shit... the bitch isn't James Bond. What does she need some keycode panel on her car for? and for JSYK the most it would do is deplete the battery.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted March 2, 2004 I recognised you were being sarcastic but I also wnted to point out that it would only deplete the battery. The Engine is running but since the car isn't in motion none of the pistons are in use and nothing's really happening. It would probably lower the radiator fluid too actually

I don't think ANY COURT would be on her side...except maybe Alabama. HEY!!!! Fuck you buddy. I was kidding. It was a joke about how southern states usually have odd-court rulings, like having a 12 year old go to trial as an adult and sent to jail for life in FL, and arresting people for murder without evidence...OK the last was from My Cousin Vinny. But it was a good movie.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted March 3, 2004 Um, the pistons are still going. How do you think it idles? Ya but they're not going all out. They're doing minimum work to just keep the engine going. In the end it wouldn't hurt them unless you left it like that for say 10hrs straight because the oil would be shit and it would be metal against metal. 45mins does nothing.
