ESPN reported she was on life support ealier today. But just now, WLW has said she has died.

RIP Marge. You and your unique ways will be missed along with your obvious love for the Reds.

1 of the 2 worst owners in MLB of my lifetime(as far as people go). Georgie Porgie is next.

I'd have wagered that she could have made it until April 20, just to celebrate that special day one more time.

What's so bad about George Steinbrenner has a person? Let alone an owner.

He treats the office workers like shit all the time. There's always small stories turning up every season about it.

Wasn't Schott the one that liked to refer to black players as "monkeys"? (Her word NOT MINE so no need to ban/warn/suspend me)

EDIT: I meant to quote the post above, from Kahran, but neglected to do so ... sorry that this post seems so out of left field.

I don't know.

I was close, but got my racist baseball stories confused ... Schott was the one that referred to Dave Parker and Eric Davis as her "million dollar n*****s"

Go to:

and do a search under her name, it's right there.

Thanks for the 1 dollar hot dogs Marge and even though I am not a Reds fan, living in the area you will probably be known as the last Reds owner giving a damn about fielding a competitive team.

I wouldn't consider her one of the two worst owners every. While her beliefs about minorities is not acceptable, she cared about the fans, which makes her better than a lot of other owners.

Somewhere Marge is walking Schottze and he's taking a shit on third base.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, who really cares? I mean honestly, she was a horrible person and pretty old, so I wouldn't even think that this is a bit of sad news. Let us not forget her actions in response to the death of that one umpire on opening day nearly a decade ago. It's a shame when someone dies, but I can't say I'm even remotely upset to hear it.

Of course, they were probably two of the best owners over all.

Sportscenter comes on in about 10 minutes. If ESPN has any kind of consistency and credibility, they had better not do one of those "nice" tributes just because she died.

What has "Georgie Porgie" done wrong as a person? :-/

Silly, jealous you...

Uh, every Reds fan cares, thats who. She was a great owner, and loved her team, the city and the fans. She, much like everyone her age (no, I don't actually mean everyone - for the dipshits out there) was/is racist. She grew up in those times, and that turned many people off. She was very ignorant when it came to minorities. But overall, as a baseball owner, she was very caring and put some great teams on the field. She WILL be missed, despite what some idiots think.

No Sad tears here.

She was a bitch first and foremost... Yeah she cared about the team because she was ALWAYS a fan first.

What a day for Baseball

Sounds like alot of people only know Marge for being a bad girl and saying some bad things, but no one seems to remember all the good she has done, and all the good she did for Cincinnati baseball and the town. Rob Dibble, as much as I hate the guy, steals the words out of my mouth, and for anyone who doesn't actually know what they're talking about (90% of the people in this thread) - should read this:

Beneath a tough exterior, Marge Schott had a heart of gold. Mind you, I wouldn't want to get on her bad side, but if she loved and cared about you, she did so for life.

A woman in a man's world, Marge met every situation head on. She was a shrewd businesswoman who often made decisions which tainted her image. But she didn't care about perception, she knew she had to be tough. And to love her, you had to look beyond her frankness and edgy delivery, because there was a lot of goodness at the root of her intentions.

The Marge Schott who I will remember dedicated countless hours to numerous charities, helping raise money (and donated plenty of her own) to children's hospitals, inner-city school programs, the Cincinnati Zoo, organ donation and the list goes on.

She loved the game of baseball and its fans. I remember her sitting in her front row seat, next to the dugout, signing autographs and handing out Reds' stickers throughout entire games. The fans will miss her.

I will miss her.

ESPN baseball analyst Rob Dibble pitched in the major leagues for seven seasons.

I didn't think I'd come to see the light of day that I agree with Dibble.
