Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2004 So, Chris Jericho whom has fallen from headliner to #2 Heel to #3 mid-card part time tag teamer was given the book to compenstate. In WCW, They gave Jericho the book and he created a classic legendary character with the "conspiracy theories", the Library of Congress segments, 1004 Holds, Ralphus, the mask collection and of course...GREENBERG. So we should have expected Jericho to come up with another brilliant character or angle but the problem is...He didn't. Instead of tapping into his well documented creative brilliance, he decides to exploit his love for Pop Culture and cheesy teen movies and tv shows and use that. So he decides to take his on-screen "best friend" and all of the sudden has a crush on Trish Stratus and we all know where that went. The question is... WHY? WHY? WHY? Was Jericho looking for a easy way to have a kissing scene with Trish or did he really think this was a good idea? The Sub-Par acting from Trish has hurt this act and has only served to make Christian the one who is getting anything out of this, Jericho goes back to his bitch babyface role and gets stuck down in that hole for a while now... Did Jericho purposely give himself a Angle that Vince and HHH wouldn't take away since he never really threatens Evolution or anything or did he have good means behind this? cawthon777 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 I'm not disappointed enough in it to complain. Personally, I'm a big fan of "Chasing Amy" and am enjoying the simularities to the angle, thus far (aside from the non-existant lesbian stuff). Best friend feels threatened by new girlfriend, blah blah blah. Christian is doing a great impression of Jason Lee; I'm just waiting for him to refer to Trish as 'finger cuffs'. Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2004 I think it's more of Dawson's Creek rip-off then an Chasing Amy...
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 3, 2004 I think he was told that he and Xian were gonna be demoted from number two and three heels (For so good reason) so Orton and Batista could fill in. They probably told him to just have fun with his new spot.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted March 3, 2004 I imagine management is looking over his shoulder and constantly reminding him that he can't outshine Triple H. And I think his 98 WCW character would go over the heads of most of the WWF crowd.

And I think his 98 WCW character would go over the heads of most of the WWF crowd. I'm sorry. I mean, I hate HHH as much as the next guy, but couldn't it be possible that the reason this storyline is the way it is because Jericho wanted it this way? Not everything is because of HHH. And I for one like the angle. Gives a new dimension to Christian's and Jericho's characters.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2004 that Jericho is a little freshman bitch in High school and Trish is the head cheerleader/president of student body and Christian is the jerk captain of the Football, Lacrosse and Baseball team? Wow...Great dimension...
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted March 3, 2004 that Jericho is a little freshman bitch in High school and Trish is the head cheerleader/president of student body and Christian is the jerk captain of the Football, Lacrosse and Baseball team? Wow...Great dimension... That analogy has absolutely nothing to do with the storyline. Christian, the jock? Jericho, the nerd? It isn't exactly Shakespeare, but if you're going to make fun of it, at least use a proper analogy.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2004 I never said he was a nerd. Jericho=Basically is a sensitive guy who falls in love with the popular girl (trish), While Christian, the cocky arrogant one himself thinks he's the mack daddy thinks he can score a girl before he can, so he does the asshole jock things like steal his lines, keeps them apart, lies to the girl etc. Trish, The popular girl can't stand this and pushes them both away hurting only the Nice guy (Jericho) while the Jock(x) continues to brag and eventully, tired of being turned down by her, resorts to actions (his beating of trish last week)...The nice guy, against all odds(the injured leg) will do anything and everything to avenge the one who did such a dastardly thing to the girl he loves. This is TEXTBOOK high school right here.

I don't mind the angle that much to be honest.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2004 yes...it can be either of them... Most people relate more to the high school story...at least I do...I've actually played both X and Jericho's role.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted March 3, 2004 My point is, this angle hasn't been all bad. Look at the stuff they did in December. It kept most people interested in watching Raw.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 Jericho has given up any hope or ambition of being a main eventer anymore, or even getting a championship reign. He's just going to accept that shit sandwich of a title reign he got as a filet mignon and never expect anything more. He's decided instead to just use his bullet-proof heat to be HHH's second-fiddle and attempt to get over as many people as possible. He's a Jobber to the Stars, nothing more and nothing less. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 Jericho isn't really a nerd. He was a heel when this storyline started. He's the jock with a sensitive side.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 For me the angle should have been killed once Trish found out about it when she was listening in the hallway.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted March 3, 2004 For me the angle should have been killed once Trish found out about it when she was listening in the hallway. That is when it sure wasn't interesting to me anymore. If Jericho wasn't involved, EVERYONE would be bashing this to all hell.
Silence 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 If Jericho's still writing the angle, why the hell doesn't he just kill it off and let Trish job on Heat for a while until she becomes fresh in the Women's division again? As for Christian, he could probably do the same. I know it's obvious Jericho will probably never see main-event status in WWE again, but couldn't he do something interesting besides write one of the worst love stories in wrestling? Guest Loss Report post Posted March 3, 2004 If Benoit gets the title, Jericho's chances of moving up are good. The fact that Jericho is now an over face and HHH is a heel is good. He hit a definite ceiling in 2003 because they weren't going to make him the #1 heel, although he proved he should have been all year. I expect him to at least play Challenger of the Month at some point this year, even if he doesn't do much more than that. Besides, it's my understanding that Jericho and Trish were writing this initially, but they they haven't been since December.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2004 The fact that Jericho is now an over face and HHH is a heel is good. You would think that, wouldn't you. But with the past history between these 2, I'll hold off judgment.

I expect him to at least play Challenger of the Month at some point this year, even if he doesn't do much more than that. In most major WWE title feuds, though, one has to be the heel and one has to be the face. Benoit and Jericho are both faces, currently, although I can see WWE giving Benoit a nonsensical heel turn like they did two years ago in his hometown after returning from a neck injury unless Jericho's face run is very short this time. Also, I think I remember reading about HHH holding Jericho down in 2001 even in his absence when he had the quad tear, so HHH leaving for a movie after Backlash possibly won't change his influence on Raw. Guest Loss Report post Posted March 3, 2004 This is true. I didn't see how they could make it through 2003 without putting the belt on him while HHH took time off, but they managed somehow to avoid it. So he could just as easily feud with Christian all year.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2004 Was this storyline more to help Xian get over than it was for Jericho and Trish? Both seem to have a solid fan base, and this should of propelled Xian from the 3rd heel up to after WM the 2nd heel on Raw.
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2004 This angle has lasted way too long and the blowoff was for Jericho to face.........Xian????You got to be kidding me, this match wouldn't even make a good RAW main event.Right now Jericho is a #3 babyface, and this feud hasn't done anything for him, the reason he got demoted from #2 heel was b/c WWE wanted Orton to fill that spot, and mark my words as soon as Y2J is done with Xian, he will be doing the job to Randy the WWE golden turd.
