snuffbox Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I know some here also like boxing so I thought Id post this reminder. Verno Philips, a top 10 ring magazine fighter, and great veteran looks to gurantee himself a title shot by fighting the exciting and talented Julio Garcia. Its on Espn2 tonight, 9pm main event time.
snuffbox Posted March 6, 2004 Author Report Posted March 6, 2004 Thanks for the tip. yep Right now its an undercard with an undefeated kid and a guy whose been kod 14 times. yay...hope it ends quick! im really looking forawrd to this main event, second one ive felt like this about on espn2 this year already. Theyre schedules looking pretty good this year despite all the financial problems.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Man, espn2 hits the commercials WAY too eagerly.
snuffbox Posted March 6, 2004 Author Report Posted March 6, 2004 Man, espn2 hits the commercials WAY too eagerly. Yeah they do. Just one of many network-related problems with an otherwise good boxing program. main event time finally though
HarleyQuinn Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Man, Philips made that look like absolutely nothing
snuffbox Posted March 6, 2004 Author Report Posted March 6, 2004 Man, Philips made that look like absolutely nothing No shit. He destroyed Garcia when I expected a competive fight....Phillips definitly has earned a title shot now!
HarleyQuinn Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Even after the first knockdown, you just knew it was over when Garcia kept stumbling
snuffbox Posted March 6, 2004 Author Report Posted March 6, 2004 Garcia has alot of heart though but with the shots he was taking...there was no way he could stay up. He either needs to learn to tuck his chin in better and clinch when hurt or just call it a career. Nonetheless...Id say this is one of Phillips' most impressive wins. Maybe the most. Id like to see a rematch with Kassim Ouma on HBO or Showtime.
HarleyQuinn Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Barragan's getting some solid shots in right now
snuffbox Posted March 6, 2004 Author Report Posted March 6, 2004 This could be the longest fight of the night...
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I like this Barragan guy. He could easily win this decision but instead he just goes toe to toe with the guy. Dumb, maybe, but I'm entertained. I missed Vernon though. Not that I had much of a chance.
snuffbox Posted March 6, 2004 Author Report Posted March 6, 2004 Barragan looked pretty good for his debut. And he got more in-ring tv time than anyone else tonite.
snuffbox Posted March 7, 2004 Author Report Posted March 7, 2004 Great fight on Showtime tonight...Casamayor-Corrales II...anyone watching? I dont get Sho
