All settled into my new apartment

Recommended Posts

Well I've been at my new place for about a week and I'm feeling pretty comfortable here. 2 bdrms, just have to pay electric/cable/phone, 440 a month, 1st and 3rd months are 1/2 off.

Last night I set all my wrestling videos onto the bookcase I got from my grandparents, so for the first time my videos are sitting out on display instead of sitting in a bunch of cardboard boxes that are falling apart.

This is my first apartment and I feel I've made a good choice here.

$440 seems a bit high imo, but if you can afford it more power to you.

Some advice, if there are any problems in your place that could affect your security deposit document each one with photos, give a copy of your findings to the landlord and keep one for yourself.

Trust me.

(Oh, do you live north or south of Dayton? I was a Middletown Middie from 8/00 to 8/03)...

I asked him where he lived first, hippie. I remember seeing lower costs for nice apartments in that area -- although if he's nearby Dayton the costs may be a bit higher.

I had a buddy that lived in NYC and what he told me about the cost of living there made me cringe.

I didn't go OMG U GOT OWNED LOL2004 to him or anything. If he likes where he's living more power to him. For the record my rent is $500 for a duplex...

OMG if I could find an apartment for 450 inc. utilities, then I'd wig out. That's a damn good price. I've been looking at a 1 bdrm aptmnt w/o utilities and they go for around 750 here in Salt Lake City. I'm guessing I'm just looking in ALL the wrong places. At the college I attended (for a day) I saw room-mates available for like 200. I could just see me living with them and marking out over a wrestling program, only to have them kick me out promply.

I, too, would love to be able to find an apartment for $450 untilities included. Everything I'm looking at right now, for a one bedroom, is $570 or more with no utilities included.

Holy shit I need to get out of here, rent for 2 bedroom apartments here is at least $850, and that is for yer average run of the mill apartments.

It's even worse down here in the southern part of Cali, Mike. $800 is apparently a bargain for a 1 bedroom apartment. That's what's going to force me to leave the area. I can't stand living with my parents, nor do I want to, but it'd be impossible to afford my own place here at the moment.

So you can get raped by condo fees?

Actually, I should have said townhouse. I'm just used to using the "condo" buzz word lately. The "maintenance fee" [same thing as a condo fee] for the one I'm buying is only 25 cents per square foot [800 square feet total]. That works out to $200 a month. :)

...that, plus my monthly mortgage rate, is less than what I'm paying in rent right now [$800/month for a 1 bedroom], and I'd actually own this instead of just throwing my money at some company with no investment whatsoever.
