Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Well, that cancels out Goldberg / Lesnar since it looks like their build-up video is already made. So its either got RAW's Three Way, Undertaker / Kane, or Angle / Guerrero. I feel the song would have worked perfectly for Goldberg / Lesnar though.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Look at tonight's 10 WM Matches program... They used incredible music for the Clip Jobs...and it was ALL classical and House Music... Those work better then another Nu-Metal track.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 10, 2004 God willing, nothing by "drowning pool" makes it to XX. But if it does, it will be Eddie/Angle, where Eddie has to step up to Kurt.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 can we have a lyric post here... That would kind of help...
Adam 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Eddie-Angle would be the obvious choice for 'Step Up'
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 here we go... 1, 2, 3 - Go! Broken, Yeah, you've been living on the edge of a broken dream. Nothing, Yeah, that's the only thing you'll ever take away from me. I'm never gonna stop, I'm never gonna drop, Ain't no different than it was before. So take some good advice, You better stop and think twice, Before you take your first step, Out that door. If you wanna step up (step up), You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down). If you wanna step up (step up), You're gonna get knocked down. You had your chance to walk away. Live to see another day. If you wanna step up (step up), You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down). You're gonna get knocked down... Aaaaah... Suffering, Yeah, that's the only thing here that's left for you. Nothing, Yeah, that's the only thing you're ever gonna fucking do. I'm never gonna stop, I'm never gonna drop, Ain't no different than it was before. So take some good advice, You better stop and think twice, Before you take your first step, Out that door. So if you wanna step up (step up), You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down). If you wanna step up (step up), You're gonna get knocked down. You had your chance to walk away. Live to see another day. If you wanna step up (step up), You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down). You're gonna get knocked down... You're gonna get knocked down... [ ? ] And now you've crossed that line... You must be out your mind. Go. You're gonna get knocked down (step up). You're gonna get knocked down... You're gonna get knocked down (step up). You're gonna get knocked... down!" Wow. Amazing shit right? I guess it works best with Eddy/Angle after all "You had your chance to walk away/Live to see another day" works within the context of the storyline... Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 I can see it fitting for the traditional WM highlights video.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Eddie/Kurt. Some of the lines work for Taker/Kane.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Uh No... The lyrics are UBERLY shitty(as usual)...The Classical Intro had a more dramatic effect. Shit like "Step Up" is fine for Backlash/Judgement Day ppv's not for WMXX.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Eddie/Kurt. Some of the lines work for Taker/Kane. "Suffering, Yeah, that's the only thing here that's left for you. Nothing, Yeah, that's the only thing you're ever gonna fucking do." Works great for Taker/Kane... The "So take some good advice, You better stop and think twice, Before you take your first step, Out that door." and "You had your chance to walk away. Live to see another day." lines work work for Guerrero/Angle and the "If you wanna step up (step up), You're gonna get knocked down (knocked down). You're gonna get knocked down..." works for the Rock N Sock Vs Evolution
Guest Deviant Report post Posted March 10, 2004 The themes are usually given to the main event's build-up video, which means it goes to Benoit-HBK-HHH. I expect a live performance and the recap video at the end. And even though I like the song, those lyrics are WAY too repetitive when I see them written out. That's my main problem with DP, no real depth to the lyrics like all of my favourite bands.

True, but that's why they're getting such a push right now..the song's lyrics are simple 'let's go kick some ass' fare that, while simple in structure, reach the maximum possible audience, which is necessary for a band that's been out of the spotlight like DP has. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 I wish Freddie Blassie had survived to be able to do the intro for Wrestlemania XX, that would have been the one show where his presence would have been truly appropriate. I remember the pop he got at MSG at the 2000 Royal Rumble. Hopefully they won't go the "O Fortuna" route and keep it sort of somber and orchestral, like the XVII intro. As for the song, use it for Angle/Guererro. Use the techno remix of Barber's "Adagio for Strings" for the main event. ... okay, so that won't happen.

Ah well, at least he did do the intro for a WM (15 if I remember correctly) which was done pretty well.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Shit like "Step Up" is fine for Backlash/Judgement Day ppv's not for WMXX. I don't know if you've noticed, but WMXX is looking more and more like Just Another PPV. Just one with a big, 12-month ad campaign. No Bret, no Hogan, nothing like 17's Gimmick Battle Royale, etc... The guys who were demanding 4 hours of new faces going over established stars got their wish, and the show seems interchangable with any other PPV. Oh, wait, "cross-promotional" matches. I forgot about that. Joy.
