A Smart MSG Crowd turns on Lesnar & Goldy

Recommended Posts

After the title match with Brock, rock got ZERO respect from the crowd. He was booed, people said he sucked. It was less mean spirited than Brock, but Brock hasn't done as much as Rock has.

niko

Ah yeah, that.

To answer your question then...yes, I was offended by that. The crowd killed the enjoyment of that match for me personally.

I still can't get over the fact that Brock laid down for FGB, cleanly no less. I think even the fans in attendance were amazed by it. Talk about kicking a deflated audience when they're down. Sure you can say both guys were being shit on, but he was still a WW_ creation pitted against Turner's former pride and joy. And for Vince to do that... he must have been pretty pissed at him.

Personally, I loved the double bird by Brock, both to the crowd and to Austin. He played the heel to the end. That's dedication. ;) Even if I'm alone in this, I sure will miss him.

That double flying fingers wasn't in character. The pair to Austin, maybe. But the fingers to the crowd were a clear indication of what Lesnar thought of the crowd's reaction to him.

I was jumping up and down laughing and cheering on the fans during this match. It' was freaking awesome and I marked out for this more than I did the Takers return [but not more than BENOIT!!!] (IMO, way too over hyped .. Kane vs. Taker still sucked). I loved every second of it, even if the match was god awful! My "normal" friends were all confused, it was funny. Though, one of them heard rumors of Brock leaving, and knew Goldbergs contract was up, the other two were like "WTF?!", and I was just laughing, heh.

It was great.

Instead of laughing at your friends and trying to maintain your smark elitism (or maybe you were afraid of looking like an internet dork) you should have maybe told them about Brock instead of letting them be confused?

Also, the whole "crowd turning on The Rock" thing is VASTLY over-stated. He got pops for mocking Flair, and he was only really booed when he broke up the Flair Elbow. He still got a huge pre-match reaction, and you can disagree but you would be lying to yourself.

Another thing, the crowd wasn't paid to act the way they did, it was natural reaction. That's what happens at a wrestling event, stop being snobby low-life losers behind computer screens and get out and experience it once in a while. "Bwah that crowd tried to be ECW and they failed... miserably. Bwah hah this post I just made is so clever and witty! I am better than MSG!" Yes buddy, I'm sure the crowd all decided TOGETHER "hey! Let's be like ECW!" it wasn't just a natural reaction, no, of course not.

The chants during the Brock / Goldberg match were deserving because the match sucked. I thought they were hilarious. People were cheering for Hogan because a guy dressed like Hogan fought in the stands with a guy dressed like Savage according to the reports. People still like Hogan, Rock, and Austin for a reason, and no computer dweebs who know all the "inside stuff" can ever change that.

Except for the fact that you are on the computer too, dumbass.

I'll admit to liking smart crowds because of the train-wreck factor. I find it entertaining when the commentators try to ignore it and then make excuses when they can't anymore.

In any case, the fans are going to chant whatever they want (and they should).

I'm not saying he deserved a hero's exit. But at the same time, I am saying one of the biggest smiles I had all night was when he flipped off the crowd. That says a lot.

I'm also taking exception to the use of 'smart' crowd. 'Attemped smart' would be better. If they were 'smart', they'd have stuck to the 'NAH NAH NAH NAH...HEY HEY...GOODBYE' and realised he hasn't sold out.

Plus if they were smart, they'd realise Lesnar had a point. Wouldn't you quit if you were the World Champ and Hardcore Holly's bitch at the same time?

It's not just that he left. It's the way he left. Goldberg is leaving too but he didn't get the "you sold out" chants.

Like I said last night, best crowd ever.

he was pushed to Fast

No, he was not.

Will you people ever drop that shit?

Yes he was. Way too fast. And that's what partially lead to him quitting.

If he was forced to work his way up a bit slower in his first year (like Kurt Angle, who went through some of the smaller titles before moving on to the big one) he would have either realized earlier that wrestling wasn't for him and quit, saving the company all the trouble and money they went through promoting him as a huge star, or he would have been much more grateful when he finally DID win the Heavyweight Title and probably would have stuck around much longer.

He was spoiled rotten from the word go and now that he isn't top of the card he's quitting. Wrestling Bob Holly and Undertaker is not a valid reason for quitting, tons of main eventers have had to deal with programs with those two guys (even the no-selling Undertaker). And last night 'taker was still selling offense, so that reason is nullified.

Good riddance, Brock. Let me know when you stop wearing diapers.

Like when Brock and Goldie did their glorified shoving match and JR/King said it was because they're on an equal basis and it is hard for two guys of this size and strength to really dominate the other?

Crowd: "Booooring..." "this match sucks!"

I honestly think the crowd made that match unforgettable. If it wasn't for the crowd, it would have been just another match.

As for the idea that smart crowds are stupid, I'd rather have a crowd full of smart marks instead of retarded morons cheering while still thinking it's all fake. And who's dumb enough to bash a crowd of smart marks in the forum of TheSmartMarks.com?

Sooo you'd rather have people in the stands that can't get lost in the moment? Christ, thats the whole point of going to see wrestling, to lose that sense of disbelief and to get your ass worked. Otherwise you're just sitting in the crowd with a stop watch and shaking your head at the lack of flying space tiger drops. No one still thinks wrestling is real once they get past the age of eight or nine... they just can still enjoy it while cheering the faces and booing the heels. Heaven fortend that get in the way of some good old fashioned snarkyness.

Yeah, but the You Sold Out chant is usually for guys you don't want to leave and who are going somewhere bigger (Taz, Dudleyz). Nobody cares that Goldberg's leaving because he hasn't been on Raw in the past month or so.

What are you using while reading this buddy? A computer. What site's forums are you on? TSM. The SMARTMarks. Was your post 'clever and witty'. No...you'e trying to be 'better than me'.

Ladies and gentlemen...I present the definition of the pot calling the kettle black.

I know it was a natural reaction dumbass. But it's New York City. Forgive me if I'm wrong...but ECW had a strong following there, so their reaction may just be ECW influenced. I saw influenced, because they thought it was clever to use the chant while not thinking about what they were saying and why they used it.

'Get out and experience it once in a while.' Buy me plane tickets to America and I'll gladly do so. Until then kindly try not to flame bait people. Thank you.

Actually, I go to a wrestling show to watch.....WRESTLING. I don't go because I want my sense of disbelief worked, I go to watch.......WRESTLING. I'd rather have an ECW or Japanese crowd over any other crowd anyday. At least they know why they're there....WRESTLING.

Yes, I totally ripped off Benoit. I'm proud of it

Brock news from the Torch:

"Brock Lesnar's interview with KFAN radio has been rescheduled for tomorrow morning on Mike Morris's program. Morris is a former Minnesota Viking and Brock's workout buddy in town.

The word here in Minnesota is that he "doesn't want to be part of a fake sport anymore." That may be other people's interpretation of him innocuously stating he wants to be part of a competition again, or it could be what it sounds like, which is him using the "fakeness" cliche as an excuse for him not being able to handle the travel schedule while keeping his complicated personal life in order.

I'm as curious as everyone else about how he handles himself in the interview. If anyone hears the interview, please send me as detailed of a recap as you can. I may still be awake finishing the newsletter, but probably not, and it's not easy to record radio for any length of time. Send to "wadekeller" (@pwtorch.com"

Right because ECW crowds weren't getting worked 24/7. They DIDN'T pop for 911 everytime he choke-slammed someone! They DIDN'T pop for The Pittbulls. They DIDN'T laugh along with the bWo. They DIDN'T cheer the half hour entrance of The Sandman. Please.

You're a mark. I'm a mark. Johnny Hayseed 'I boo heels cause they're the bad guys' is a mark. Anyone who takes strides to tell you how much they care about the wrestling and the wrestling only is either 1) a liar or 2) doesn't understand professional wrestling in the least. Wrestling at its core is all about the dramatic conflict that takes place in the ring. If there is no drama... no one to route for... no one to cheer... no one to boo... you're just wathcing guys roll around with no rhyme or reason.

I'm not lying, I do watch wrestling for the action in the ring. I think it's great they throw stories in, but I actually like the wrestling.

If that's indeed true...then Fuck Lesnar. Whatever shit went down, there's no reason to undermine the sport that gave him his big break in that way.

A-fucking-men.

I am a hypocrite, I'll admit it. I like to know the behind the scenes stuff, but it's not to be "a smark," it's because I am a mark and like every thing in my life that I'm deeply interested in (music, movies), I want to know how things work. I don't use that information to make myself seem smarter or more witty than others, which some people do here, and they get off on it. I apologize to whoever I offended with my previous posts, but I personally got a kick out of Wrestlemania XX and thought it was great on all levels. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but I was highly entertained, and that's what I look for in professional wrestling.

And I stand by my post that the fans care about Hogan, The Rock, and Austin for a reason, regardless of what the "smarks" and insiders think of them. I'll admit, I thought Austin was getting stale as of late, but the ATV was a great addition to his character, and stunning two guys who came off like assholes last night (even though obviously planned, well except for the whole 'let's both wrestle a shitty match' attitude) was the icing on the cake.
