The one and only DRAFT 2004 prediction thread

I'll let you have Jericho if you want Him...

But neither man should lose.

Damn, all the big faces are either busy (Shawn, Benoit) recently feuded (Eddie) or really not a good idea for either guy. (Jericho, Undertaker)

Turn Flair.

Nah...Angle can't have the title and Him jobbing twice devalues him apprently according to AS...so no can do.

Personally, I'd say FUCK it and Go Angle/Eddy/Jericho/Benoit and alternate all fucking year...Maybe throw Mysterio, HBK, Trips and Test in there for good measure.

I'll say this though...

I predict Eddie to Raw.

Think about it...Raw's new motto is "Escape The Rules"...

Who better than someone who Lies, Cheats, and Steals to represent that?

I swear if they send Benoit BACK to Smackdown after all that shit...I'll go ballestic.

So is it doing to be a fucking draft or RANDOMLY drawn like a LOTTERY.

HHH will be on the show with the Cruiserweights. Because I can beat Jericho and HHH won't be on the same show...and with Jericho comes Trish, and with Trish comes the Women's Division...and both the Women's and Cruiser's divisions can't be on the same show...

I think we're all forgetting the GOOD thing that should come out of this split...

Randy Orton being sent to SD to feud with Taker.

Either the Dead Man will job or Orton will get his ass whipped. We win either way.

Maybe they can both get locked in a bank vault?

Why a bank vault?

I'd love to See 'Taker reprise his role from Suburban Commando if only for one night...

I'm still not totally sure I like this idea. I understand the reasoning behind it, but I just hope they don't do like last time and just start drafting people without putting serious thought into it. I'd hate to see them putting this as much time as they have into a program like...say...Christian/Jericho, only to have Jericho drafted to Smackdown to end the feud. It was dumb ass stuff like that that got the split off to such a rocky start in the first place.

If Orton gets sent to SmackDown, AS might go off the deep end. Orton's got that "Legend Killer" thing going. What better target for Orton than an Olympic Gold Medalist?

You're assuming when all is said and done, Angle's still ON Smackdown...

We don't know WHAT they have planned.

This is the exact same garbage that happened in 2002, and it cost them millions. I don't see how this is a good move. It's just hitting the reset button.

Actually, since none of these current storylines are working, they have nothing left to lose.

It didn't work in 2002?

Let's keep in mind, without the brand split, Eddy Guerrero wouldn't be within MILES of a World Title. Benoit wouldn't be, either.

Let's not pretend that the brand split did no good.

I think the WWE is in crisis. No Brock, no Goldberg, no Angle, no Rock, Austin can't wrestle, Foley will be around for another month, Michaels has a torn ACL.....I think it's time to merge back into one tent again, but that's just me. HHH will be the main heel on one side, but who will be on the other? Big Show? I just *know* they're going to make Eddy carry Hunter.

Well I'm not sure how I feel about doing the draft over.

However all day, for whatever reason, I was thinking it would be cool to see John Cena feud with Christian and slutty Trish. And now it may be a possibility.

This SHOCKING REVELATION! Blah whatever.

I think they should just reshuffle the brands every year or so too keep it interesting if they really want this two brand shit to continue..

but then again this may spell the true demise of the Cruiserweight division. Given its own brand and screwed over in it already they might not be able to have the same numbers any more on the show.

lest they plan on having Cruiserweights and light heavyweights again.

One belt per show

I had to point to one of my buddies that sending Benoit back to SD when the next PPV, a RAW one, which is taking place in his hometown would be fucking retarded.

*would like to see RVD, Jericho and Hurricane go to SD

I have the feeling that all the champions will be kept where they are now. Except maybe the tag divisons. I wouldn't be surprised if RVD or Booker T got put on Smackdown and a tournament happen for the tag titles....a short, short tournament. What I'm happy about with this extension is that no stable will be down as one, like the nWo was. I would have preferred a nWo Raw and a nWo Smakdown, but then again I'm a nWo mark, so thats just me. Its hard to call this one, as long as all the cruiserweights are left on Smackdown and a few main players are exchanged and some who aren't at the moment...Lance Storm are among one of those, it might work. I did like the fact how Vince main Evolution and HHH pretty clear in his little speech, didn't you?

I think this should just be a yearly thing after Mania. The first week following Mania could essentially be the start of WWE's "new television season" when the rosters change and we get fresh television. I've always supported the brand extension but they never made any effort to creatively book guys jumping shows, contract renegotiations, trades, etc. The GM's don't even create the illusion that they are competing with each other to put on the superior show.

A TRUE creative team could have booked the GM/brand rivalry and at least created an illusion of the intensity being as it was with the Monday night wars. The GM's going all out to screw over the other show by stealing talent they felt would make their show better. Little twists along the way could have freshened up each show when things got tired and created new matchups. Something like another lottery wouldn't be necessary had creative been creative.

I'm going into this optimistic because I'm hoping that the Lesnar incident and the smart audience at Mania made Vince realize that maybe it is the fans afterall who dictate how the product should be, even the Internet community. That was a pretty vocal 10% of the total wrestling audience who were "in the know" at Mania during Goldberg- Lesnar.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Vince is seriously wanting to change the product. Perhaps he is seriously going to listen to the net and the audience. We have two former WCW cruiserweight stars given the ball to carry the company at a time when the company is pushing more wrestling, strong workrate and storytelling within matches. There was the "where it all begins again" Mania theme. We seem to have a more low key Vince going on television and giving a speech about shaking things up, creating new stars, fresh matchups and giving the people what the want. Hell, he even threw out an insider term of his own when mentioning members of his own family. This just seems like '97 all over again. I was waiting for him to comment that WWE doesn't insult the intelligence of their audience, just like he said then.

I'm personally hoping Heyman can be the guy in Vince's ear this time around in Russo's previous role.

I'm too tired to get into my picks so I'm shutting up for tonight. I'll check back in and get to the picks at some point. I'm hoping for a change in announce teams, some actual talent cuts, I hope both Benoit and Eddie stay where they are (although if they were ever going to do a unification match, I'd hope it be now). I also think the cruiserweight division should be dismantled with that talent being split between the two shows for more matches. There is no reason we can't have Jamie Noble challenging Benoit or Eddie vs. Rey Rey for that title.
