Some of the plays were questionable (particularly Williams in that KK vs Q7 hand), but overall it was fabulous poker and the players had really great instincts in terms of calling or folding. For my money Danny N. is the best all-around poker player in the world right now. Phil Ivey would probably be #2, with guys like Barry Greenstein, Chip Reese, Howard Lederer, Chau Giang, T.J. Cloutier and Gus Hansen all ranking highly. In terms of pure no limit hold-em players, you have to include Phil Hellmuth Jr., Layne Flack, Eric Seidel, and John Juanda to those already mentioned. starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Jay Lovinger at ESPN Page 2 made a great point. Aside from Lederer and Dan Harrington, most of the top players are really agressive. Actually, I think that Harrington is underrated. He's not a flashy player, but he uses his "Action Dan" moniker to great effect when he wants to steal pots. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Playing for fake money or play chips is pointless. No one in those rooms plays the same as they would if they had some real cash on the line. It's easy to call an all-in raise when you can just get 10,000 more play chips at the end of the hand; it's a lot harder when you have a flush, the board is paired, and you're fearing the full house that pwns you from the chap putting you all in. Agreed. Poker that's not for money isn't poker. My problem is that when I have money in my poker account, I usually play too long and get a little sloppy, but I won $1000 in a live tournament this week, so I don't really have any complaints in the world of poker right now.
