haVoc Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Original MTV VJ Dies John "JJ" Jackson dead at 62. John "JJ" Jackson, one of the original MTV VJs that ushered in the birth of music television, has died of a heart attack Wednesday at the age of 62. Jackson was one of the VJs that debuted with the network, leaving behind a successful career in radio to introduce music to a new medium. He spent five years at the network, eventually moving on to once again work in radio in LA. Jackson leaves behind an ex-wife, daughter, and two grandchildren. OldSchoolWrestling Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 The only old-school VJ I remember is Martha Quinn... Yuck. It was all about Nina Blackwood back in the day.

nl5xsk1 Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 If this is the black guy, then he was the first person I thought of when I saw the topic. He indeed was the "black guy" ... I feel ancient to admit this, but I remember the early days of MTV and JJ was always the one that I thought was coolest, the one that I was most envious of, the one that I thought did the best job of being a VJ.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I remember the original VJs, but I don't reallly remember their VJing. Well other than Adam looking totally out of place as the original host of Headbanger's Ball.
