RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2004 HHH has done similar things before. Taka, Hurricane, Maven come to mind. Cept this time the guy won. However, if it doesn't have a strong follow-through and the WWE just sits back and admires tonight and expcets it to carry over for the rest of Benjamins career, they're mistakened. How they play him out over the next few weeks is very important.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 30, 2004 Triple H putting over two people in a month??? (maybe now us smark should cut him some slack) No. The bad FAR outweighs the good. When he puts over one guy for each one he buried, we can cut him slack.

Maybe things are turning around... damn it I probably just jinxed it. First off I just want to say Raw mostly SUCKED tonight until the last match. Mindbendingly horrable. If HHH really wanted to put over Benoit Wrestlemania wouldn't have been a triple threat match. Simple as that. He would also allow Benoit to wrestle Michaels one at one at Backlash. And now of course he's got his nose stuck in the main event PPV match for what's seemingly been eternity now. Benoit is being buried here. Now it might not be HHH's fault but it is awful suspiscious. If HHH really wanted to put Benjamin over he would've done it clean. He didn't. Again I don't know if it was his fault or the bookers but the fact remains the finish wasn't clean. Tonight was Raw is HHH once again. The over the top promoting of HHH was vomit inducing and pure wrestlecrap material. Benoit was completely forgotten about just as he is week after week despite being champion. Even Michaels often looks stupid when compared to HHH time after time. Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2004 HHH has done similar things before. HHH has never done like he has in the past month exactly. He not only tapped out to Benoit clean, but he lost the title to the guy. I know it doesn't mean too much, but he technically lost to Eddie via DQ, and he was pinned by Shelton tonight as clean as you could ask for under the circumstances. I'd rather Shelton win as he did tonight, instead of having someone run in and do their finisher to HHH. Tonight Shelton beat HHH on his own, Benoit didn't cause HHH to lose, HHH's stupidity caused HHH to lose to Shelton, and Shelton took advantage of HHH's mistake. Not to mention that for much of the match Shelton dominated HHH, making HHH look like a fool who totally didn't expect such a showing from the guy. All of this in the past month. No, HHH has never done anything even close to anything like this before.

No, Benjamin didn't beat HHH on his own. Clean wins are like the ones you had in All Japan. The reason the distraction is there in the first place is so that the finish won't be clean. So it'll be controversial. Otherwise there's absolutely no point in having the distraction in the first place.

HHHe has done this before and it means that HHHe will be expecting something back in exchange for the loses such as a potential long title reign after 3 matches of HHH vs HBK vs Beniot now HHHe may not win it back in 3 weeks but it will happen eventually. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2004 He not only tapped out to Benoit clean, but he lost the title to the guy. Oh I could poke so many holes into this. In a feud where Benoit wasn't even the focus? In a 3 way match? In match which after he said "I lost 2 on 1" and which has been said again and again and again by Lawler? *How* many times did Benoit get a solo promo? Zero? Why didn't Benoit open up RAW after winning the title? How come HHH has been the focus of RAW for the past few weeks and Benoit hasn't? Still the HHH show. Benoit hasn't gained anything from that win, aside from that thing around his waist; which means nothing if you're still playing second fiddle. I know it doesn't mean too much, but he technically lost to Eddie via DQ, And what was Benoit - the guy who "tapped out" HHH for "the title" doing? Wrestling Rhyno? And the DQ "loss" to Eddie means nothing as there was no follow up. and he was pinned by Shelton tonight as clean as you could ask for under the circumstances. What circumstances? I'm not asking for anything more as I was completely satisfied with that match and outcome, but then again, I'm not the one placing a halo around HHH's head, but what circumstances? I'd rather Shelton win as he did tonight, instead of having someone run in and do their finisher to HHH. Tonight Shelton beat HHH on his own, Benoit didn't cause HHH to lose, HHH's stupidity caused HHH to lose to Shelton, and Shelton took advantage of HHH's mistake. A mistake that wouldn't have happened if Benoit wasn't outside the ring. Not to mention that for much of the match Shelton dominated HHH, making HHH look like a fool who totally didn't expect such a showing from the guy. Yes, it was a good match. He made HHH look like a fool MUCH LIKE Maven, Hurricane, Taka... which is why I posted what I posted. All of this in the past month. No, HHH has never done anything even close to anything like this before. Keep top spot while stooging for the underdog? Sure he has.

El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2004 Benoit being the focus of the show would just expose his weaknesses..such as everything but his ringwork. Besides, with Trips, Austin, and Foley on one show, there's not going to be that much airtime to go around.

I would agree with you if this didn't involve HHH Remember in 2000 when HHH was champ everything revolved around him But when the Rock was the Champ it was the HHH/Steph/Angle Love Triangle that dominated the shows. And when Angle was the champ it was the Austin/HHH feud that got all the hype. See a pattern there.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2004 RRR, you are also officially in PowerB territory, congrats. Does PowerB territory mean that rather than actually replying I just post a one liner that means absolutely dick all? Listen, I said that HHH did good tonight by putting over Benjamin, BUT he did it in the past with various other "underdogs". What happened before, however, was that there was no follow up and they sank to the bottom of the card. They can't do that with Benjamin. So hows about you fuck off, cause you're in Downhome territory.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2004 Main event slot and focus of the show are different things. Put it however you want, there were times when HHH was the champ where he was both not in the main event nor the focus of the show. I don't think it's right in any case, have it be HHH as the champ or Benoit. To me, the world title should always be the main focus of the show, and the match in which the world champ is wrestling should always be the main event.
