Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2004 As you guys probably know I've been broke and jobless now for like the past month. In probably was the most pissiant job I've ever taken, I ended up finally getting out of it, and been unable to find work since (gr...). Well, today's my lucky day. The Superstore nearby phoned me and I might have a shot at a job. I'll find out tomorrow at 11 am. Since they phoned back, like a freaking hour after I left apparently. Hopefully, I get the job as I could use it. I'm being hopeful, because not having a job sucks. Well, anyways, hopefully I'll have a new job. Maybe get a little place in Strong Badia... At least this way, you won't see me online 24/7 (as long as I don't forget to leave my account running).
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2004 So I'm assuming you don't work at Crack-Donalds anymore and those retail job interviews (Best Buy/Target was one of them, right?) didn't pan out. Where would this new job be at and what would you be doing? And yes, the quick turnaround from applying to getting a call is a good thing...
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 3, 2004 I thought you had gotten another job months ago which lead you away from McDonalds.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 I thought I had the job with Telus. But apparently I wasn't fucking "computer savvy" enough (how the fuck that is, when my father WORKS for them, I don't know [meaning I know more than they think]). So as for the Superstore (grocery store), I'm not sure. Although, I know they called me back an hour after I applied, so I'm assuming good stuff from that. As for the Sports Mart (a local retailer of clothing, apparal, and sports stuff), I'm assuming it is pretty good, considering the guy apologized to not getting back sooner to me, as he had planned. As far as I know, it is just standard, straight up, joe blow job. However, I'll find out for sure when I get there.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 So, how did things go? I don't know yet. My interview is in two and a half hours (I live in Mountain Standard Time). Will find out here soon. Hopefully this goes good. Cause if I don't get a job, bye-bye internet by the end of this month.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 (edited) how old are you? 20. Why? Edit: And the internet might go because of bills that need paying. Edited April 3, 2004 by Lightning Flik
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 If it doesn't pan out and you're looking in the retail/supermarket type area, look to see if there's a Costco in your area. They start at $10/hr and give piles of bonuses, raises, and benefits.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 I'll keep that in mind. Dammit, I'd probably have a job now if six months ago those jerks didn't t-bone my dad in the car. Being carless kinda hinders getting a job in Edmonton.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 4, 2004 It's alright, Flik - you can always deliver pamphlets. By the way, did you say that you weren't going to Backlash?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 (edited) It's alright, Flik - you can always deliver pamphlets. By the way, did you say that you weren't going to Backlash? I've got NO money. The money I had saved for my Backlash tickets (and was about to spend it on them ) was used to cover bills. So yes, I'm pissed off I'm not getting to go to Backlash since a PPV in Edmonton won't happen for at least another 10 years (if I get lucky). Unless I get a job really soon and can con that money from not going into bills (fat chance), I'm not going. Sucks being me. Edit: And my interview at Sobey's (why the fuck did I say Superstore) went exactly like a Rob Van Dam interview. No, I'm not shitting you. I was half afraid the manager was going to go "you watch wrestling don't you? Cause you remind me of Rob Van Dam!" ...ugh... In a week's time he'll be phoning me back saying I don't got it... I know it. Edited April 4, 2004 by Lightning Flik

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 (edited) Flik, why do you think the interview went sour?... Why it went sour? I ended up mistaking the store (Superstore), which was about oh 20 minutes away, so indeed I had showed up late, and tired from running my ass off to make it. Thankfully, the manager took longer than I was late to finish up with the interview he had. On top of that, I said things like "cool, dude, eh" etc. that would normally be heard in a RVD promo, and frankly, just came off AS Robbie. *sighs* Besides, whenever I'm told "we will get back to you in a week's time" they never do. It's just to say "I'm sorry, we aren't going to hire you, but if you get really lucky, we will." Thankfully, I'm happy to say 2nd interview went off much better at Sport Mart. Considering they've got 85 stores and growing (9 inEdmonton and increasing), and continually moving people up in the ranks (as they just go up), I think I got a good chance at getting it. Hopefully I do. Edited April 5, 2004 by Lightning Flik

However, if they do pick you it will be because the person they wanted for the job turned it down. Good luck with the other job...

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Whenever I worked my dead-end crap jobs the first month or so of working was called something like this -- basically if I f'd up big time I got fired. Never happened though -- is this what you're talking about?...
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Basically a trial run is for them to evaluate you and if they don't like you for whatever reason (hell, they don't need to give you one), you are fired. So yes. What you said kkk is what I meant.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 So you got a job -- congrats. (I haven't heard of ANYONE getting fired during this "probabion period.") What will you be doing?...
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2004 So you got a job -- congrats. (I haven't heard of ANYONE getting fired during this "probabion period.") What will you be doing?... Grunt work apparently. And sales. And more grunt work. At 6.50/Hr I'm not complaining. Plus added commission and if I am really good at it, I'll might make 11 to 12/Hr. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 7, 2004 So you got a job -- congrats. (I haven't heard of ANYONE getting fired during this "probabion period.") What will you be doing?... I got "let go" by Ben & Jerry's after the trial period.. It was a good summer job, at least. And no they gave me absolutely no reason as to why they let me go. But I never knew how much giving a cute girl free ice cream can pick up so many numbers....
