Guest Anglesault Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 If, and this is a big if, the Red Sox can get by the Yankees in the ALCS this year, I don't think anything will stop them. If you believe in a curse, beating the Yankees is instrumental in killing it.
HarleyQuinn Posted April 10, 2004 Author Report Posted April 10, 2004 Hit & Run double gets a tie at 1-1 now in the Oakland/Seattle game
Guest Choken One Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Here's the thing...Would the Sox rather win the W.S but not beat the Yankees in doing so...(let's say A's Beat the Wild Card Yanks) and the Sox beat the A's in the ALCS...or beat the Yankees in the post-season? Because if they win it all...Idiots like AS would go "but you didn't beat the YANKEES!"...
HarleyQuinn Posted April 10, 2004 Author Report Posted April 10, 2004 As a Sox fan, beating the Yankees would probably be satisfying however if a WS win didn't couple with it then it would really be meaningless in most fans of the Red Sox's eyes
HarleyQuinn Posted April 10, 2004 Author Report Posted April 10, 2004 Oakland now takes the lead 2-1 in the 7th on an RBI single off Eddie Guardado
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 And this one belongs to the REDS! AGAIN!! Lidle: 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB!!!!! GREAT GAME! Reds are 4-1, and they've walked only 6 batters this season. Starters and Bullpen combined! WOOOO! I must say I have been pleased so far Let's hope things continue this way Sunday, things won't be so pretty, but if these guys continue to throw strikes like they are, then we'll be very fine.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Because if they win it all...Idiots like AS would go "but you didn't beat the YANKEES!"... How would that make me an idiot? They don't beat the team that has tortured them for 80 years.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I can relate this to the college basketball story I heard about Maryland. Their fans hate Duke so much that the story was they enjoyed beating Duke in the ACC tournament this year just as much as their National Championship...which they won without having to go through their rival.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Get the WS win either way first, then worry about dominating the Yankees. That's how I see it as a Red Sox fan.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Yeah...that way since 1919 the score of WS victories would be a narrow 26-1.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 It would be like that either way though. That's why I say just get the first one and don't care who you go through to do it. If the Red Sox win the AL East then its just as good since the Wild Card and Central Divisions haven't exisisted forever.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 You're never gonna "dominate" the Yanks. All the years of oddities and strange things happening between the two teams in favor of the Yankees have already started this "What next" self fulfilling prophecy.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Anything can happen. Horrible example being nobody ever thought that after Pearl Harbor occured that the U.S. could be attacked in such a fashion again, yet 2001 it happened. You really need to stop acting like God is upstairs sitting on his cloud with a Yankees jersey on. That's what pisses everybody off about you when discussing baseball.
Slayer Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Much as I love the Sox and hate the Yanks, overtaking in dominance is a pipe dream in the near future Take the two next winningest WS teams (Cards and A's). Combine their WS wins. That's still 8 behind the Yankees.
Bored Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Less than a week into the season and I'm ready to suggest a OAO Yankee/Red Sox Bitchfest thread. This shit is going to get really old, really fast.

Guest Anglesault Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 No, they humiliated the state of New York and disgraced Yankee tradition. God must have been busy.
geniusMoment Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Whats wrong with the Reds television broadcast team. George Grande was one of the original hosts of sportscenter and is a well respected broadcaster and baseball man. MLB thinks so, out of all of the potential broadcasters they picked him to host the Hall of Fame ceremony each year. Chris Welch is a good color guy, they show excitement, and will call a bad play a bad play, even if it is the reds.

EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Phillies in trouble in the 5th. It seems our pitchers hit a wall constantly around the 6th inning. This year alone, the Phils average 1.75 runs allowed in the 6th.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Al, what did Burrell do with the runners on second and third since Yahoo's up to date thing is being screwey right now
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 6th Inning, and Choi hits it out. Unbelieveable. The Phillies have allowed a six inning run EVERY GAME this season.
sfaJack Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 No, they humiliated the state of New York and disgraced Yankee tradition. God must have been busy. Well, yeah, but Pettitte's on the DL now. You got half your wish. Doesn't that ease the pain a little?
sfaJack Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Choi hits it out. Unbelieveable. I too find this unbelieveable. If he had done this last year, he might still be a Cub.
sfaJack Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 You really need to stop acting like God is upstairs sitting on his cloud with a Yankees jersey on. That's what pisses everybody off about you when discussing baseball. Not everyone. I like AS when he's pissed off.
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Roy & Pedro have quite the pitching duel going on through 5.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 it's good to see Pedro bounce back from his last start. I truly thought it had something to do with it being 32 degrees and I'm being show I was correct. Like I said after that night, its easier to repeatedly throw a 97MPH fastball when you have one then it is to throw the Change-ups and Curveballs Petey does when its that cold.
