Warrior and Sting

Recommended Posts

...think that there was more than 1 guy who played Warrior and Sting? I was talking to a friend of mine who is pretty much a mark, and no matter what I says he promised me that there was more than one guy who played the Warrior, and that the first Warrior died of a drug overdose. Where the hell did this rumor come from? Did Warrior returning to WWF and WCW make people think it was a different guy? And my friend thought the same thing with Sting. Was it just his change in appearance, or is it something else?

1. Sting's make up and hair color change in 1997 threw everyone off with Steven Borden

2. Steriod rumors about Jim Hellwig's death (also AIDS around the time of Magic Johnson's announcement, it got so bad that there was a rumor floating around that the WWF was going to cook up a storyline about it) have been circulating for years and despite only minor hair length changes UW has dissappeared without warning so many times that marks think that its a different person playing the character

Plus marks kind of want to believe these "rumors" so it makes them feel like they are "smarks" even though there is no vaildity to them, especially now in the Internet Age where you can easily track data such as A) side by side photos of the wrestlers to show that its still the same guy) and actual historical sites that lists A) wrestlers real names and B) wrestlers death date

Give you two funny examples, I was talking to this guy who was less than a mark and he says he heard John Studd "Just died" and this was in 97, I told him he had died years ago but he kept insisting that he just died a few days/weeks ago

Same guy also was told that Ric Flair died from injuries suffered at Fall Brawl 97 (when Hennig slammed the cage door on his head) thanks to that shot of the next night Nitro of Flair on the opperating table with his eyes closed and a major scar on his forehead and he believed it!

The major "Fake Warrior" rumor was Kerry Von Erich at Wrestlemania VIII, soley on the fact he had the "perm from hell".

And since BOTH men cut promos all the time, how can anyone believe there was a second Warrior & Sting?

And as a Sting fan, I am insulted at this rumor, and wish to kick your friends bum.

There were many stings Remember Windham Sting, and NWO Sting and The 10,000 stings in that match vs Jeff jarrett?

The 10,000 Stings didn't come out in a match against Jeff Jarrett. The came out when the nWo was putting a beatdown on DDP. The real Sting hit Buff Bagwell with the Scorpion Death Drop.

There was also a Sting/Jarrett match at Halloween Havoc 2000 (or maybe Fall Brawl or Mayhem, I can't really remember) that had tons of fake Stings come and attack Sting, IIRC.

All of those Stings were in different Sting attire from over the years too. Sgt Pepper Sting was always a favorite of mine.

Another thing with the Warrior is the slight name changes over the years from Dingo Warrior, to Ultimate Warrior to Warrior. Also, Kerry Von Erich was known as "the Modern Day Warrior" and I've heard that he filled in for the Warrior during a couple house shows when he first left the WWF do to him already being advertised and Von Erich having a very similar look to his at that time. Not sure how truthful that is.

A lot of marks also swear up and down that the Undertaker has died and/or that Kane was the original Undertaker or one of the replacement Undertaker's which you can write off to the whole "Underfaker" storyline, Mark Calloway's appearance changes over the years and that time he pretended to be Kane to get at Austin.

That wasn't really Von Erich though, hasn't Meltzer confirmed that this was horseshit?

I meant thats the rumor among marks. I personally didn't think it was Von Erich simply because its a little hard to run at the rate the Warrior did with a false foot and Tornado never had roid veins popping out of his arms.

alot of my friends used to watch WWF in 1992-1994, and whenever they see the Undertaker from 1997-on, they say it's a different person, and that Taker has been played by lots of people, etc.

well, Taker's face did seem to change alot from 1992 till now

It's called getting older and different make-up. God, I hate marks who always are like that.

I had a friend who always saidm Goldberg was really the Warlord. So many times I wanted to slap the bastard.

And it gets even more annoying when you give them imperical proof (i.e. a website that you can go to and watch the progression of Mark Callaway as "The Undertaker" through the years) and they still insist that they are right.

I don't know if its to annoy real "smarks" or if they want to feel that they are "one up" on someone who says they know all the "behind the scenes stuff"

BTW how is this for a rumor that could get started. Listening to a guy who was a mark in the 80's on the radio (about 34 now) in NYC talking about how Miss Elizabeth was on steriods because she looked so much different from her WWF days and WCW days!

Uh dude, ITS CALLED PLASTIC SURGERY!

Actually, now that I think of it, the problem there is kind of what baseball has been becoming for the last 15 years or so.

Where any time a wrestler dies at a young age its automatically assumed to be steriod related.

Not alcohol, painkillers, coke, ect, nope its because of the juice!

Haven't heard of wrestlers oding on steroids! Heard tales of Billy Graham being on dialisis, Rick Rude's heart giving out, ect but the way marks will tell you is that they oded on steroids

This is what baseball can look forward to in a few years (which is a whole different tangent for another folder)

Anyway, that is another big thing about marks, they always think that wrestler deaths are steriod related rather than as I said before alcohol, painkillers, hard drugs like coke, heroin, ect

My cousin said that the original Sting was really Sting from band the Police when he used to bodybuild and then Steve Borden took over when he went to WCW.

I ended up tying him to tree holding a bee's nest and hitting him in the face with a honey filled balloon.

He now agrees it was always Steve Borden.

Or at least that's what he writes.
