A Possible Kill Bill Spinoff ?

Empire Online talked to Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 writer/director Quentin Tarantino, who says he's up for more.

 

"Yeah, I've been thinking about revisiting the story in a couple of ways," he says. "I've been thinking about doing it as an anime feature that would tell the entire origin of Bill."

 

Quentin has also considered telling the story – possibly animated, possibly live action - of Nikki, the five-year-old whose mother was the Bride's first victim in the first installment.

 

Can that work ?

 

It's not like the Bride was wrong in her actions, anyway.

That anime idea would likely go over huge in Asian markets, but I don't see it finding much success over here. The US general public still considers animation to be for kids. Of course you'd have the Tarantino fans and anime fans as a built in audience.

I'm not a big anime fan, but I found the part on O-Ren Ishii in Volume 1 to be quite entertaining.

I want to see the O-Ren Ishii movie made with both anime and live action. The anime would only be used for flashbacks.

With Kill Bill, they have built in "prequels" for pretty much every character in the film. That's a whole lot of movies, however they would probably not be all that profitable. Then again, stranger things have happened.

Bill and Bride are probably the only character prequels that would find success.

 

Perhaps O-ren, but I'm not as certian as I would be for Bill or Bride.

Speaking of Tarantino, one of my friends said QT was planning on directing a Bond movie. Has anyone heard about that, or is this kid just a twit?

The only way it should be done on O-Ren is if RZA doesnt make a score with his vocals on every song. Go-go might be too young to have a wild history, at least compared to O-Ren.

Quentin has expressed interest in doing a Casino Royale Bond movie, sine the other two made from that name have sucked balls. I doubt it'll ever come to fruition though.

While Kill Bill Vol. 2 doesn't hit theaters until next Friday, writer and director Quentin Tarantino has talked even more about a third film.

 

"Oh yeah, initially I was thinking this would be my 'Dollars' trilogy. I was going to do a new one every 10 years. But I need at least 15 years before I do this again," he tells Entertainment Weekly.

 

"The star will be Vernita Green's (Vivica A. Fox's) daughter, Nikki (Ambrosia Kelley)," he adds. "I've already got the whole mythology: Sofie Fatale (Julie Dreyfus) will get all of Bill's money. She'll raise Nikki, who'll take on The Bride."

 

"Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as The Bride deserved hers. I might even shoot a couple of scenes for it now so I can get the actresses while they're this age."
