Scroby Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Latest Backstage WWE News & Notes Story By: Ben Johnson April 05, 2004 Rob Van Dam had a packing issue this weekend, and was forced to work his matches in a T-shirt, due to the fact taht he did not have his in-ring attire. Orlando Jordan' bags were lost by the airport, so he had absolutely no ring-wear at his house shows. WWE management remains very high on Rene Dupree, which was of course, the main reason he was moved away from La Resistance. There still are some that are skeptical about the interest his feud with John Cena will draw. WWE officials were initially surprised by the lack of reaction to Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero at the Hildago and Laredo shows; that is, until they realized that SmackDown! doesn't air in those markets. BOLD PREDICTION~!: This match up will draw a high level of interest despite the lackluster wrestling skills of both guys. Dupree is a heat magnet and works well as the a-hem strait man acting all indignant to Cena's attitude. The question remains though is if the WWE will actually get Dupree over as a threat in the process as they seem hesitant to let him 'win' even for a night even when he really has to. Like now.

Guest Goodear Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 What I don't get is RVD having packing issues. It's not like he has one pair of tights or something... How do you forget to pack fifty singlets? Awaits pot reference.

Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 *Votes for a Minor News Thread to get rid of all these crappy news threads* I'm pretty sure that was suppose to be a rule back about a month or two, but it got nixxed in about 3 hours.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 it wasn't a problem a month or two ago. For the past 2/3 weeks the overlapping (irrelevant) news has been getting very annoying. Put all the small tidbits of news in one big post, and have the big news on it's own.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 This is alright - it's new WWE material to discuss. In regards to Van Dam and Orlandon Jordan... At least for Van Dam, I'm sure that majority of, if the not the whole crowd in attendance, would've been disappointed there. And I was somewhat surprised to see that Orlando Jordan is working House Shows - there'd be not heat there whatsoever. I'd love a John Cena/Rene Dupree feud, and that *seems* the way that it's gonna go. They have a similar in-ring style, and I'd like to see more FiFi! Indeed, when reading the House Show results, I was expecting to see Rey and Chavo/s as being incredibly over, but nothing. So they only get to see Raw?

No, the rule was going to be a single thread for every single news item, however ever small or huge the news item was.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Yes, that could work, but I still like it this way.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Yes, that could work, but I still like it this way. Fluff news like this is hardly worth the time to Copt and paste here. RVD & Jordan didn't have their ring atire. Big deal. It's called buy a pair of shorts or something that are skin tight at the local flea market. Rene is over with the officials. We knew this 6 months ago. Chavo/Rey Jr. not getting heat is a surprise, so I find that somewhat interesting.

Nobody came to Eddie or Big Show and expected them to carry the show with the midcard title.

Nobody came to Eddie or Big Show and expected them to carry the show with the midcard title. They're trying to give the division some credibility (unless, of course, it's a fluke) - the U.S. Championship match being a top draw is great news for the contenders, in more ways that one. Sure, things would definitely be in trouble if it was relied on every time, but there's nothing wrong with it at the moment.
The Czech Republic Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Wait...Orlando Jordan...isn't that the 7-Up guy? Sigh. That will NEVER get old.
