Austin and Vince McMahon at odds

Recommended Posts

Guest wrestlingbs

Did we just flash back to two years ago?

Austin's agent must be a f**king idiot. Austin can't wrestle anymore. His shtick is at best dated. They've already shown they won't budge with Goldberg. And on top of this Austin up for a second wife/girlfriend abuse charge! Austin was lucky to have his contract up for renewal.

Scherer reports that Austin and his attorney are in the midst of a contract renegotiation and that a meeting with Vince McMahon turned ugly on Friday when Austin's lawyer tried to play hardball and McMahon resisted.

Jesus. What MORE did Austin want? His job was to drive an ATV down to ringside and drink beer, and squash midcarders without even having a match.

I hope he really is gone for good. If he can't wrestle full time, then his only use was to put over somebody with some high profile jobs before walking into the sunset. If he won't do that, fock him.

Huh. To think...Brock vs. Goldberg...both are leaving so they put the ref over...

And now the ref is gone too.

AND THAT'S A WRESTLEMANIA MOMENT!!!

I didn't even think about that!

In retrospect that was one match I shouldn't hae been hyped to see.

If Austin leaves...

Goldberg, Brock, Austin all gone from WWE. Benoit and Eddie as world champs. HHH having a losing streak, defeated by Benoit, Eddie, and Shelton.

All in just these first few months of 2004.

Are we in some sort of weird twilight zone episode?

The Booker's Nightmare:

A match that involves Austin, Brock, Goldberg, Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Taker and HHH.

Now book the match so that all the participants are happy with the end result and who jobs, and who goes over.

I'm loving all of this.

I can't believe the year that WWE has had so far, especially if Austin ends up leaving.

yep...

Benoit, Eddy get elevated to ME Status, HHH jobs left and right.

Austin, Lesnar, Goldberg leave.

Bradshaw is a main eventer and Smart Darlin.

One of the most talented workers in the game, Nick Dinsmore becomes EUGENE Dinsmore.

Terri's nipples get released.

Randy Orton and Scott Steiner have the first ever Man on Man sex scene on WWE TV...

And it's only been 4 months.

Well...Triple H goes over...no question...

Warrior gets a 15 minute promo on ANTI-LIBERALISM....disapears.

Brock gets a free copy of DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION and is distracted by "TOXIC" which gives him the funky groove.

Hogan does the Spring Stampede 1999 act

Goldberg gets to breed two Pandas on LIVE TV and 'Taker will lay down but only with Glen Jacobs pulling the switcheroo.

and Austin gets the last laugh with A beer bash.

I still say that Angle/TBS beats out Randy/Steiner for the "Man on Man sex scene on WWE TV" of the year.

We've also had a few releases here and there.

The good news, is that we haven't had too many deaths this year. We have had Hercules Hernandez and Jack Tunney, and I believe that's all so far.

My guess on the Austin thing is that he and his agent want the same pay they're getting now. I highly doubt Vince is willing to pay Austin his full rate for what he's currently doing, especially considering past problems.

I hope he's gone for good. No great loss.

***Update***

by Dave Scherer @ 10:50:00 AM on 4/7/2004

Here is the latest on the Steve Austin-WWE situation.

Austin was at Smackdown last night in his hometown of San Antonio, TX. I know that he met with Vince McMahon before the show and then left, but don’t know any more than that at this time.

Since last night, I have also heard that in the new deal that the sides have been discussing, WWE wants to keep control of the rights to the Stone Cold name so that if Austin branches out into other areas, such as movies, WWE will have a piece of the action, as they have with Rock. That is part of the bone of contention since Austin’s new lawyer is said to want his WWE deal and his outside projects to be completely separate things.

On a related note, it will be interesting to see what happens with The Rock when his WWE deal expires later this year. Now that he owns the Rock name, as he has said recently in interviews, there really doesn’t seem to be any reason to keep giving WWE a piece of the action and maybe that has something to do with why they are taking the position that they are with Austin. If they lose money from one cash cow, they don’t want to lose it from another.

----------------------------------------------------

Many backstage are supporting Steve Austin in his latest battle with WWE over control of outside projects. Most believe that WWE goes overboard in terms of trying to own everything related to their wrestlers and are glad somebody is standing up to Vince McMahon.

Austin's WWE future is in question at this point. He could be yet another main event level loss for the company. Austin, despite not wrestling, generates a lot of money from merchandise sales and is one of WWE's biggest names.

Well good for Austin, now that I know more information about this. In this situation, I hope he gets what he wants, I see no reason for him not to.

Austin has Vince in a bad position. Can you imagine what the possible ramifications would be if Austin leaves, goes to TNA for their new cable show, and wrestles just one more match. It could possibly make the promotion over night. Plus Goldberg is available, if promoted Austin/Goldberg could be the feud that puts TNA on the map for real.

The reasoning for the WWE is simply that they've created this star and given him a place to promote himself constantly despite him not being able to actually work in a coventional sense. Basically for giving him constant exposure on their show, they expect a part of the pie in return in order to continually do so. Understandable to me...

One match won't make a promotion because the crowd always wants more. When they find out that Austin is still done, TNA will have to promote their own people again anyway. As an added bonus, Austin wouldn't work with Jarrett when he was in the WWE so I would have to wonder if he would work for him.

Updates from 411

Career doesn't look to be over....

1wrestling.com reports that sources close to Steve Austin indicate tha Austin himself is confident that he will work things out with WWE. This seems to put to rest the rumors earlier this week that Austin's WWE career could end due to his current dispute with Vince McMahon over control of outside projects.

The latest details on Stone Cold's fight with WWE...

Steve Austin and Vince McMahon have yet to reach any sort of resolution regarding their dispute over whether WWE gets control of Austin's outside projects. It seems as if McMahon's plan now is to wait out Austin with the feeling that Austin needs to be on WWE TV to keep his value and also loves to be on RAW and will want to return soon.

The dispute does not appear to be as serious as thought earlier this week, but Austin isn't scheduled to appear on RAW again this Monday and probably won't appear until a new deal is reached. History shows that Austin and McMahon often have disagreements but always work them out.
