Best backcourt ever

Before this NBA season, people were mentioning Gary Payton and Kobe Bryant as possibly making one of the best backcourts ever. I wouldn't go that far, but they are up there. So which backcourt -- college and NBA -- would you say is the best ever?

NBA: Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe, Knicks; Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars, Pistons

College: Damon Stoudamire and Khalid Reeves, Arizona; Khalid El-Amin and Rip Hamilton, UConn; Jacque Vaughn and Paul Pierce, Kansas

Posted

NBA: Either the combo of GP and Kobe or Thomas and Dumars

College: Richard Hamilton and El-Amin (and that's only because I can't remember who played with Bobby Hurley, was it Thomas Hill?)

For college

Greg Anthony and Anderson Hunt at UNLV

Will Avery and Trajan Langdon at Duke

Fire and Ice-Chris Corchini and Rodney Monore at North Carolina St.

Micheal Jordan and Jimmy Black at UNC

Damon Stoudemire and Khalid Reeves

Ricky Moore started for UCONN, so I'm not sure if UCONN used a 3 guard offense, or if Hamilton played at Small Forward.

For the Pros

Thomas and Dumars

Johnson and Scott

Johnson and Ainge

Frazier and Monroe

West and Goodrich

Cousy and Jones

Who did Jerry West play with when he was playing for the Lakers? And who did Bob Cousey play with when the Celtics won all of the rings? Right now I would say the Mavericks duo of Steve Nash & Michael Finely or Golden State Tim Hardaway & Mitch Richmond.

Cousy had Bill Sharmin and than Sam Jones.

West had Frank Selvy, Archie Clark, and Gail Goodrich

Cassell and Allen for the Bucks was good.

Cassell and Sprewell for the Wolves

Stockton and Hornacek

Rolando Blackman and Derek Harper for the Mavs.

Freddy Brown and Dennis Jonson for the Sonics.

Delk and Anderson at Kentucky

Bell and Cleaves at Michigan St.

Battle and Gill at Illinois

Grant and I believe Glen Rice at Michigan

Rip played 2 most of the time.

Ricky Moore never started during his career at UConn, but he was the 6 man and back up PG.

Granted, neither of them played "guard", but I'm suprised no one has mentioned MJ and Scottie Pippen. What a backcourt/swingman tandem they were.

Had they stayed together, I wonder how good Allen Iverson and Jerry Stackhouse could have been in Philly? Or Jason Kidd and Jimmy Jackson in Dallas? Or LeBron James and Ricky Davis in Cleveland?
