Is the Scotty Bowman led teams that won from 76-79. 11 HOFers. The win totals, 58,60, 59, 52. During the 4 year run. They scored 1420 goals, and allowed only 732. The 1976-1977 team was the arguably the greatest single season team ever. 60-8-12. Most points in a single season. 387 goals scored, and only 171 allowed. Since I started really following sports in the early 80's, I will list those teams that I got to see play. In the 80's San Francisco 49ers - Formula for success = add a coach who revolutionized the sport (West Coast offense anyone?) to one of the greatest QB's to ever play and add one of the greatest WR to ever play = you get 4 Lombardi Trophies, and very happy 49er's fan. Edmonton Oilers - I am not big hockey fan, but you have to give credit where credit is due. I think this team won 4 or 5 championships in the 80's and that should garner consideration. The Celtics and Lakers of the 80's. The Lakers won 5 and the Celtics won 3, and for most of this decade it was either going to be one or the other who was taking home the championship. So I consider both great. Remember back in the day when the NBA Championship was actually close. Them were the days. In the 90's Da Bulls - 6 times in the finals, 6 times they hoisted the championship. Michael Jordan is the best player I have ever seen. Need I say more. Even though, I really would have loved to seen the Bulls battle with the Rockets. The Bulls never had to play against a dominate center during their wins. And I have feeling Hakeem would have made Luc Longley his bitch. Oh well, the Bulls were still great never the less. The Cowboys - 3 out of 4 championships. Even though I really could not stand this team. Damn you Minnesota for making the most lopsided trade in NFL history, and allowing for Jimmy Johnson to build a winner. He caught some son of a bitch grafting his stadium, and instead of beating the hell out of him and the pressing vandalism and assault charges like any rational human being would, he had him work the damages off at the Stadium. 4 out 5 World Series wins though garners consideration. 4 out of 6. Montreal from 76-79, Islanders from 80-83, Oilers from 84-90 (with the one offs for Calgary and Montreal). So, basically 4 teams won all 15 Cups in that stretch, including one team that only one once. So, it's 3 teams winning 14 of 15 Cups. Pretty impressive string of mini-dynasties. I usually ask people on the street who Micheal Schumacher is, and its usually draws a blank. I think Nascar driver Jeff Gordon winning 60 something times in his early 30's counts as a dynasty too.
