I remember in the mid 90's the Apter mags were putting this guy over all the time, now I never even hear about him on comp tapes or anything. I think he was on a WWF trainee contract, but got njured or something. Hmmmmm

He was under a WWF development deal for a while. But wanted out. For a cruiser in the mid 90s he was very good, and he still is. But with the spotmonkeys the way they are today he just doesn't stand out anymore.

I've seen some of his stuff in CZW.. and maybe a few other places. Pretty decent, had a little more about him than some spot monkeys.

He was my first true favorite indy wrestler. He used to work the Detroit area all the time in the later 90's (96-98 or so). He and Steve Nixon had a couple of excellent matches in Great Lakes Wrestling and was one of the key figures in the East Coast Invasion angle in the Northern States Wrestling Alliance.

 

He was always entertaining,be it in the ring or on the mic. And he and Don Montoya,especially, were very cool guys to talk to.

 

Back then, I had been hyping him hard on the net and told him that at a show. And he responded by calling me by my name. Guess I was the only one hyping him

 

He doesn't wrestle under the name Reckless Youth anymore,which is probably why you don't see his name recently. Tom Carter.

And unfortunately, as Tom Carter, he's not being booked by CZW because he missed a show or two. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he also hasn't been seen in ROH for a while either.

 

But yeah, Reckless was a favorite of mine in the mid 90s. He, along with guys like Devon Storm, Ace Darling, and The Misfits, were the reason why NWA NJ strived. Once they all went their seperate ways, things fell dramatically.

Actually he wanted to be known as "The Technician" Tom Carter as a way to get away from all the "Reckless Youth" stuff. Surprisingly his "wrestling" style is pretty good.

I really like the Reckless Youth name, but he's been around for a while. Maybe he did the right thing changing it

Sorry to bump this, but the topic title caught my eye because I've always enjoyed Reckless Youth's matches. Anyway, he still wrestles every single month on the east coast. I believe he's working none other than CHRIS F'N HERO on a FREE show in New Jersey for UWC sometime in the next week. He was also scheduled to go to England and wrestle Matt Striker and Shark Boy in a three-way dance, but the promotion that was holding that event went under before they even held a show. But you can still catch Tom on misc. indy cards on the east coast, pretty much every single month. Search for his name on WrestlingObserver.com and you'll find plenty of stuff.

 

In his ROH match at Do Or Die, one of the commentators said he dumped the Reckless Youth name because he wasn't really a youth anymore. He was getting to be a veteran, so apparently he wanted to change his name.

 

EDIT: Reckless Youth cancelled his appearance last night for UWC vs. Chris Hero. Not sure why, but Jay Lethal replaced him. But you can still catch Tom on many shows in the New England area.
