Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 http://homevideo.universalstudios.com/boxs...?boxSetId=34588 http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=6492 Check out both of those links. It's a DVD gift set of the old Universial Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolfman movies. In total, there are 14 classic films included in the set. All of special features from the older, and now OOP, Classic Monster Collection DVDs are included in this set, and then some. The best part, is that you'll be able to get it for as little as $55 (I believe that's the price at Amazon right now). You'll also be able to buy the different sets individually (the Dracula set, Wolfman set, Frankenstein set), but why would you? I must have them ALL! It comes out the same day that WrestleMania XX, 4/27 if I'm not mistaken. Am I the only one here hyped up for this great set? Sincerely, ...Downhome... Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Do the seperate box sets come with a bust? I'm loving the busts, but I was never a big fan of Wolfman. EDIT: The busts only come in the gift set. I was probably going to get the Drac and Frank sets, but for around $10 more I can also get Wolfman and the three busts. I'd be stupid not to do that. Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Seeing how Amazon has officially charged me for this set, $50.39 (Share the Love) and my order has been changed to "Shipping Soon", here is a bump for this thread.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 Now I feel like kind of a sucker for buying all the old single releases... But yeah anyway, I'm realling looking forward to buying this set. Hopefully they will release Mummy and Creature sets in the near future.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 Is this available in the US or just the UK. Cause I'll spend 50 bucks in a heartbeat for this set if I get those busts with it.
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 it's available in the US of course http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...8593985-2572056

Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Amazon has officially charged me for this set, $50.39 How did you get that price? Do you have a special code that can be shared. No, it's through Amazon's Share the Love program. Check out the STL forum at DVDTalk to learn all about it, and to get in on a lot of great deals. Basicly what the STL program does is give you 10% off of anything at Amazon.com, so it comes in very handy for just about everything. Here is the information on it. Save your friends--and yourself--some money Each time you place an order with us, we'll offer you the chance to e-mail your friends and give them an additional 10% off the items you bought. (You select which items, of course.) The e-mail we send will explain the discounts and how to apply them. If anyone makes a purchase within a week, you'll get a credit to use the next time you shop! How much will my credit be worth? Your credit will equal the dollar amount of your friends' 10% discount. Let's say you bought a CD for $15 and decided to Share the Love on that purchase. Your friends would be able to buy the same CD for $13.50, and you'd get $1.50 (the difference) off your next purchase at Amazon.com. Credit limits You are eligible to receive one credit per item shared Applying credit on future purchases After you Share the Love, we'll give you a link to your personal Share the Love page. From there, you can apply the credit you received. You can also see and buy the items your friends have shared with you. You have 30 days after you receive credit to apply it to your account. Eligible items Only books, music, DVDs, and videos purchased at Amazon.com are eligible for this offer. Items from our other retail stores or from Amazon Marketplace, Auctions, and zShops are not eligible, nor are items purchased from our international or partner sites. Amazon Friends Amazon Friends allows you to create a private community to share product opinions, recommendations, and discounts with your friends and family. When you send a discount to friends, we'll add them to your list of Amazon Friends. To learn more about Amazon Friends, click the Friends & Favorites link in the blue bar on our home page. To make it easy, go to the DVDTalk forum, and either find the thread dealing with what you want or start one of your own if you can't find a thread dealing with what you want and just "ask for love" and leave your email address. When someone buys the item, they send you an email and in the email there is a link for you to get the 10% discount. Then when you buy it, you can email other people so they can get in on it also. For each item you buy, and out of the people that you then email said link to, if any of them buys the item through the link you send them, you then get a credit on your Amazon account. So if you buy the Monster Gift set and then email someone else the link to do the same, and IF they buy it using your link, you get the difference between the normal price and the 10% off (about $5 for this set), and you can use that credit on a future purchase. It's a great way to buy online and off of Amazon. When it comes down to it, I'm really just getting the set for $45 since I'm getting $5 towards a future purchase. If you want to look at it that way I mean. Anyway, Amazon shipped my set on Monday, and I should have it tomorrow if everything goes as scheduled! I'll post my thoughts on it once I get it. Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I'm hyped uip about them. However, I'm probably going to wait a week before I get the Frankenstein set(That's the one I want to get the most).
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I pickeed it up yesterday for 60 bucks at Best Buy. They had the individual DVD sets for 20 bucks a piece...but I wanted all 3 of them anyway...and that basically means the little busts are free.

Just about everone that I've heard from on various message boards are saying that over 1/3 of the discs that come in both the box set and the individial cases, are floaters. I checked the status of my Amazon order just now and the UPS truck left Anderson, SC (about 30 minutes away, where all of the UPS trucks in this area are dispatched) this morning, so I should be getting it any time now! The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I guess I was lucky. That was actually a concern I had when I went with the box over just buying the individual sets.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Well, UPS just delivered the set that I ordered on Amazon. I opened it up, checked each of the DVDs, and I had a massive total of 0 lose discs, everything in my box set is 100% mint condition. Woohoo! It weighs more than I thought it would, and I'm loving the packaging for this set. Now to find the perfect place to display it.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 It weighs a ton because those little busts are hefty. If anyone ever breaks in to my house...they'll be getting a Lon Chaney Jr. upside the head.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I only got the Dracula set for the time being, I think my dad ended up getting the Wolf Man set (which sounds pretty weak to be honest). I have yet to get the Frankenstein stuff mainly because I already have older DVDs of the original and the Son/Ghost double disc.
Guest Banders Kennany Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Why was the Mummy not included here? He is more of a classic move monster than that stupid Wolfman.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 The Mummy, and various other classic monster flicks are rumored to be a part of another Monster Legacy collection, due out late this year.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Also, the Mummy wasn't really a recurring character like these three were.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 28, 2004 This set is a tie in with Van Helsing. Van Helsing doesn't have the Mummy in it. This other rumored box set would be Mummy, Creature from The Black Lagoon and what else? Invisible Man?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Mummy Mummy's Hand Mummy's Tomb Mummy's Ghost Mummy's Curse Invisible Man Phantom of the Opera Creature From The Black Lagoon I'd like to see them throw the 5 Mummy movies in one set. The other 3 can be another set...and then throw in some new sepcial features on there.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 29, 2004 Is Phantom of the Opera actually considered a "Universal Monster"?
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I picked up Dracula & Frankenstein at Sam's club for a little more than 40 bucks, it's all I wanted really, so I'm satisfied. And yes El Satanico, the 1925 Phantom of the Opera was Universal
Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I want the Abbott and Costello "meets" films on a set also.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 And yes El Satanico, the 1925 Phantom of the Opera was Universal I believe he's referring to the 1943 version starring Claude Raines. I wouldn't consider that one to be a monster character, since he's a regular guy to begin with who just has his face done in by some acid. But seeing as how it was previously released in the Universal Monster collection, I guess they consider him to be a monster. And there's no need at all for the Chaney version to be released again because the two-disc set that came out this past September did everything with the movie you could've wanted. Excellent and much-overlooked DVD, right there.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I wasn't asking if it was made by Universal. I was asking if it's considered an "Universal Monster".
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I wasn't asking if it was made by Universal. I was asking if it's considered an "Universal Monster". I'd say Universal defines him as a monster even though technically he's a tortured soul.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 this gift package looks like a winner. This would be something GREAT for the holidays too, I mean my Dad really enjoyed those flicks as a child, and I enjoy them as well.
