Carmelo deserves it. But I heard NBA Shootaround say LeBron has won the award. But it's not offically annouced yet, of course.

Screw both of these guys.

Lebron acted like a baby about not making a starter as an all star. And Carmello refused to get off the bench a few weeks back to play because "his team had already given up the game."

And Melo apologized immediately without having to be asked. He knew he messed up, he owned up to the mistake and even called his old coach to talk because he needed someone to talk to.

Melo is a good kid, he played his ass off without showboating as much as James (you lose points with me when your acting like you are in a dunk contest in a game), the stats are close enough where they shouldn't be a factor and Melo is in the playoffs as the leader of his team while James is at home after his team collapsed.

And talent nothing, James is in a conference where NO ONE has talent. To say "Well he didn't make the playoffs because they didn't have the talent", well the Boston Celtics are in the playoffs with the "no talent" players the Cavs had before.

They were both great but Melo was better and got his team further. The award should be his hands down but the NBA will give it to Lebron because they have been kissing his ass all year long.

I don't remeber LeBron ever acting like a baby about the all star game. It was Anthony who was complaining that he should have been picked over Kirilenko. As far as who was the better player this year Lebron averaged basically the same points and assists, and then added 3 more assits per game. I like Melo alot, but James was the better player this year.

And as far as East not having any talent, at the perimeter positions (pg,sg,sf) the East is better than the West. I would take the group of Kidd, Iverson, VC, McGraddy, Pierce, Marbury, Davis, Redd, Artest, Jefferson, Jones etc. over the group in the West. The only great perimeter players in the West are Kobe, Cassel, Allen, Marion, and AK-47 depending on if he play 3 or 4. The problem is that you need a consistent inside game to be a great team and none of the teams in the east other than Detroit and Indy have that. That is why you get so much disparity in how individual teams do against each other, but almost always get an exciting all-star game.

In that rookie game, Carmelo also did the same thing, plus he goaltended, made a back-court violation and passed the ball to Ronald Murray, who was on the other team, for an alley-oop. Does Melo lose any points for that?

In an NBA all star weekend game?

Please.

Dwayne Wade.

Yeah, he'd be rookie of the year if Carmelo and Lebron weren't in the league yet.

James was the one who said he wouldn't show up if he wasn't named a starter...to me he came off like an asshole, also shows how much he appreciated the fans votes to get him in as a reserve.

Lebron is winning this on name power alone, Carmelo deserves it more.

Dwayne Wade.

Watch yourself, Stern will have a hit put out on you, lauding those unmarketed stars and what not.

My vote's for Carmelo because his team made it to the playoffs in a much tougher conference. Even though Lebron had all the presssure in the world on him and exceeded expectations my vote still goes to Melo

What are you talking about? The fans don't vote on all star reserves the coaches do. The fans only vote for the starters. Also, when the hell did LeBron say that? The only time I heard LeBron say anything as far as if he was going to be selected to the all star game was that after it was sure that he wouldn't be voted in by the fans, that in a way it would be an even bigger honor if he was selected by the coaches to be a reserve because it would mean that he was playing well enough for the people who really know the game to pick him. I don't know where you get your information from, but it is really backwards.

You guys really kill me. When the hell has making the playoffs ever even mattered for a fucking rookie award?

James outplayed Anthony this season, plain and simple. He outscored him, outassisted him, outstole him, outBLOCKED him (a point guard against a forward!) and damn near outrebounded him (again, as a point guard). His assist-turnover ratio was tons better (Anthony's was under 1). Rookie of the Year has always been about stats -- it's not who was more valuable (although Cleveland would have been lucky to win a dozen games without Lebron this season), it's about who was better, and that's Lebron.

Even thought Carmelo has had (arguably) the better rookie year, it'll be hard for the voters to see anyone other than Lebron, what with their mouths fully wrapped around his dick like is has been all season.

This year, Carmelo > Lebron.

Uh, no he didn't.

Carmelo outscored Lebron. Carmelo led in rebounds (and no, LeBron wasn't close. Melo had about 50 more Rebounds). Carmelo had the better shotting %. Carmelo had the better 3P %. Carmelo had the better FT %. LeBron had more turnovers (in fact, Melo is #5 best in all of NBA in turnovers).

Both men led in different categories. LeBron did have more assists, steals, and blocks, but other than that - the advantage is Melo.

sorry sorry, I did mess that up. But he did say he wouldn't show up if he wasn't starting...then took it back after a ton of media heat

I think I know what you are talking about. After LeBron wasn't selected by the fans or coaches alot of people were saying that when someone got injured, which almost always happens before the All Star game, Stern was going to select LeBron to take their place. When it was mentioned to him at first he said he wouldn't want to go like that. I can definately understand him saying that because if he would have been added more people would be saying alot more bullshit than they already are. But, after he got to think about it and talke to his coach he later said he would go if something happened that required him to play.

50 more rebounds is not much over an 82 game season. Especially when it is a forward vs guard comparison. But yes Mello did outrebound LeBron. I just have a question for everyone who acts like this should easily go to Carmello? What is more impresive a PG/SG who averages about 21, 6, and 5, or a SF who averages 21, 3, and 6. Those are both very impressive numbers and truly it could go either way, but to act like the only reason it is going to LeBron is because of name value and not the quality of his play is totally idiotic. Only two rookies have ever averaged 20, 5, and 5 for a season Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan. I'm sure the media coverage did that for him also. They just filmed him against a blue screen and then put him against actual game footage. I am sorry to tell you, but sometimes the popular choice can be the correct one. This is one year where honestly you can't go wrong with either pick, but don't act like it is some tragic wrong if Carmello dosen't win Rookie of the year.

A small forward who can do anything in the West is a shock. Considering the PF and C positions in the west usually gobble up the rebounds, the fact that Melo was able to do what he did is more impressive to me than Lebron.

Lebron had a strong season but Melo was just better.

Dwayne Wade should finish very close to them cause he really got lost in the shuffle. Plus he leads with 1 playoff win with that game winner.
