alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Just read on the bottom line Artest was suspended for taking a few steps off the bench Saturday, after excessive whining from Carroll on the subject. This despite the fact that he sent Brandon Hunter into the game with CLEAR intent of taking Jermaine O'Neal out of it, either by injury or provoked fight. The fact that no possibility has been mentioned about Richard Jefferson getting a suspension for doing the same thing against the Knicks, just shows that if it was not Ron Artest, no action would have been taken. Discuss.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 19, 2004 In a related note my Celtics suck so bad they'll still get swept. I hate John Carroll for not playing the rookies more and tanking the season...a lotto pick would have been nice.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I agree with you, Dogg. It's bullshit. Artest put the brakes on and was only 3-4 steps away from the bench before pulling back. When watching the tape, Artest ended up with no influence on what was going on on the court. He didn't antagonize or even try to break it up. It's bullshit. While they are at it, why dont they start suspending guys who jump out on the court after a clutch basket when there is still time left in the game. Sure it's only for a second or two, but if the league wants to get all anal about the never leave the bench rule, why not enforce it to the fullest?
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Haha, or the smartest man on earth. Go Carroll
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Damn that Carroll for wanting the NBA to enforce their own rule! Regardless if Artest only went a few steps off the bench, the rule doesn't say that a suspension is to be handed out for players that go more than 10 steps off the bench. Or 5 steps. It says that leaving the bench is a suspension, and evidently that's what Artest did. It looks like the Celts will only lose by 10 points in game 2. Save the tears and namecalling for a series that matters.
jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I'm pretty sure I saw Artest say that the league told him he would not be suspended for it. I guess they changed their minds.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 19, 2004 2 games..... didn't Shaq get fewer games for sucker punching Brad Miller like a little bitch a few seasons ago?
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 It's only one game, not 2. Also, I just read that Artest has won the Defensive player of the Year award. Because of this, I'm no longer angry about the suspension, and instead will rejoice in this news. *rejoices*

I'm not going to pretend to give a shit about the Pacers, but it's pretty clear that this only happened just because of Artest's reputation. That and Carrol's bitching. but this will never reach full fleged scandel, since the Celtics somehow have less than no chance of winning a game even without Artest. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I agree. This was just me bitching over something minor as usual. Besides, this clears the way for a big performance from Jonathon Bender off the bench. We'll be fine.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 The league needs to come up with a Worst Executive of the Year award voted on by the fans and give it to Danny Ainge. How in the blue fuck do you take a team that had star players in Antonie Walker and Paul Pierce along with solid role players like Tony Battie, Mike James, and Eric Williams and turn them into a team with Paul Pierce, Jiri Welsch, and ? as their good players. I mean fucking Dana Barros is on the active roster and no matter how good he was in his prime, let's remember this guy was wearing a suit as an assistant coach what two weeks ago. That's how bad its gotten in Boston who may just be the worst team to ever make the playoffs in any sport
