BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 NWA:TNA has been researching possible venues in the Mid-West to promote house shows at later in the year. Although they have no firm plans at this time, they have looked into venues in the Pittsburgh and Dayton areas, among other cities. If they run Pittsburgh, I would suggest they utilize Shane Douglas as the local promoter as he had awesome success running shows for Extreme Championship Wrestling and even XPW locally. The belief within the company is that once there is a TV deal in place with the FOX Sports Network, they would like to eventually move ahead and book 1-2 dates a year in certain cities. The idea is it would create work for the contracted wrestlers on weekends as well as open up a new revenue stream for the company. pwinsider.com
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Not a bad idea, however Shane Douglas is not as good of a promoter as he makes himself out to be. When ECW sold out in Pittsburgh several times, ECW rarely made a dime because Douglas spent mass loads of money in order to do the promotion
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 As PWI said, the XPW Pittsburgh show was EXTREMELY profitable - in fact, the most profitable show in XPW's history. In his hometown, Douglas is absolute gold. I can't speak on ECW because I didn't even know heo had that much say in their financial workings.
Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 It's about time they did this.

I hadn't heard much about the XPW in Pittsburgh show other than the good attendance. I've had a few people mention the ECW connection to me, though.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I went to the XPW show in Pittsburgh at the CCBC Golden Dome. I was there when ECW ran November to Remember there as well. XPW got probably about 1/2 of what it got for ECW.....so being a fan I'm all for TNA coming to Pittsburgh, it would be good for their business as they would draw here....... Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 You know where TNA would draw better than anywhere else? Buffalo, NY (I happen to live there). Here's why: Buffalo was ECW's largest most consistent draw besides Philly. Also, Xplosion has its best time slot here. They are at 10pm on Sunday nights on Empire Sports, which is a major station. I know of a lot of casual fans who watch that show. TNA ran a card here last summer with the AAA baseball team and drew 4,000 fans to it. They are doing it again twice this upcoming summer. I do know that NY State is very tough to run in for indy's.
Styles 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I would love to see them tape some shows outside the Fairgrounds. That Nashville crowd gets burnt out and sometimes brings the show down. Playing in front of a new hot crowd for a couple weeks would liven things up and refresh the Nashville crowd when they return.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I hope they eventually get closer to me.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Anyone hear what venues they are looking into in Pittsburgh?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Well...the idea of house shows is something I've been wanting to hear for some time. Plus...Jarrett, Raven, Styles and others were a part of a very successful indy show in Buffalo last year...so I'd have to imagine we'd be in Jarrett's mind of places to get to.
