Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 By Dave Meltzer --Bret Hart and Vince McMahon met after the show last night. Hart didn't go to the event last night. --I'm guessing the filming yesterday afternoon from Hart House with Chris Benoit would probably air on one of the other shows. The impression was it was for Raw, and they sure talked about Stu Hart a lot on the show. It was a big deal because it is expected it will be the final wrestling scene ever filmed in the dungeon or the house. --The Paul Heyman return to Smackdown was at least strongly talked about for tonight. I have no idea if he's in Kelowna or coming, only that it was the plan.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Good to see they write SmackDown in advance and don't make it up every Tuesday. If this week's show has the same effort as it did last week, we're in for one exciting ride, WWE fans~!
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I'm a huge Kurt fan...but if you're going the Evil GM route (which SUCKS) then Paul is much better in that department

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 question is. Will Heyman get his hands on the book, or is he just going to be an on-air personality in that mess they call Smackdown!?!
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 20, 2004 If Bret ever DID agree to come back (fat chance), what position do you think Vince would put him in? One time appearance? Authority figure? Manager? Announcer? Trainer?

Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 21, 2004 One time apprence with Guest Referee having a SLIGHT chance. Bret isn't in shape to have a full time role and wouldn't want to. Bret wasn't a good talker so Announcer is out of the question and that's not even considering he suffered a stroke, which likely affected a part of his speech in some sense. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Hell, even if it's only a one night deal, if he'll come back for one night that really opens the doors for future business between the two.

"Future Business" Like what? Bret and Vince already did the DVD agreement and it's coming out for the XMAS rush... What else business can be done? Bret doesn't want to return to the scene if he can't perform.

Bret wasn't a good talker so Announcer is out of the question and that's not even considering he suffered a stroke, which likely affected a part of his speech in some sense. I didn't mind Bret has a a guest commentator. He had the calm voice that let him actually talk instead of rambling incoherently at the top of his longs. And it's been a while since his accident, and on the WWA PPV last year he sounded almost like his old self, so another year has passed and I doubt his speech is bad. And OMG~! I might be right with my mock Meltzer report on a Bret return...nah. Won't happen.

Bret Hart return > Steve Austin return at the first Bad Blood The mega-pop Bret Hart would get would either be more or less spectacular than the mega-pop Austin got, depending on if it was in Canada or not. JN News 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 I would LOVE to see Bret Hart take Stuffanie's place as the Head Director of the WWE Creative Team. Bret could finally bring WRESTLING back to the WWF(E). Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Hey, I can dream, can't I? There's an idea. Bret could be on the booking team. Although, that may too cruel a fate.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 if you subtract the Real Animosity of the two parties (even if that has cooled down as of late) Bret's contribution would be stellar with the company even as just a behind the scenes man. Alot of the former wrestlers still employed got good careers with the WWE. At least that tradition holds true since the 80's

It's a comparison between one super-popular extremely over face/legend to another. In order to gauge the kind of reaction Bret would get upon a return, you need a frame of reference. Duh. Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I don't know if its the right thread but didn't want to rehash little updates on its own Bret Hart and Vince McMahon met following the 4/19 RAW in Calgary. Vince wanted to film footage of Chris Benoit in the Dungeon at the Hart family home (which is being sold), which Bret agreed to as long as no footage was shot of him. It's unknown when this will air, but it'll be the last footage of any wrestler in the Dungeon. As for the meeting, the main topic of conversation was the potential release of a Bret Hart DVD with footage of his best matches. Bret would appear on the DVD to talk about his career. Shane McMahon has said that he will personally oversee the project if it does happen. Vince also asked Bret is he'd be willing to appear on WWE television. As I've reported before, Hart doesn't want to return to WWE for storyline purposes so Vince suggested that they make his return a "spontaneous" thing instead. He didn't, however, propose any ideas as to how this would happen. [source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter]
redbaron29 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 I hope Bret never gives Vince the satisfaction. I'm going to see Bret tonight too, and if Iget the chance to talk to him, I will tell him too.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 Red, while as a life long Bret fan, i'd agree with you there, unfortunately, there are millions of fans who wont get the chance to see him again, myself included, and if the only way it's possible is to see him on WWE TV, then i say go for it. And knock Vince on his ass too. And i know he said no storylines.
Superstring 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 I expect they'll put the stuff they filmed at the Hart house on Benoits DVD later this year. As someone who never watched Bret while he wrestled I have to say I'm curious to see him return to make a goodbye to the fans or something along those lines. But WM XX would have been the best time to do it.
