Turn Edge Heel

Recommended Posts

Guest Your Olympic Hero

Am I the only one who thinks Edge hasn't been getting the expected reaction since he came back to Raw? Nobody seems to give a shit about him, including me.

I say after Benoit beats Michaels on Raw two weeks from now, have Edge turn on Benoit, and presto - a fresh main event feud for the next Raw PPV. His reasoning for the turn? Not being in the spotlight even though he's one half of the tag champs? Benoit got Edge's shampoo commercial? I don't know... they can make something up.

Thoughts?

Well, feuding him with Kane was definately not the way to go since everyone knew it was just to give him a win. They need to put him into a real feud.

Eh, just some mindless rambling:

Edge is a better wrestler as a face. His offence fits and I prefer his charactor that way away. Going back to his former music was a mistake. They also need to capatalise on the "who injured Edge" storyline It looks like Benoit vs HHH will headline the Bad Blood pay per view so Benoit vs Edge will no happen there. If Benoit vs Edge does happen Benoit has to be the heel (at least in the match) because the match will a lot better that way.

I would also like to see HBK as a heel. I agree that Edge is a better worker as a face, plus HBK has been face for far too long now.

Did they ever explain why Edge speared Bischoff? Or is it just because Edge is a face? They really should've done more with that.

My own very markish (in this case opinion).

I really liked the energy that came with Edge's old entrence and music. With the change in music, it just isn't the same.

I wanted to be excited for his return, and it just didn't happen.

I dunno man, Edge is bland enough already without saddling him with that crappy Rob Zombie track.

"Can I have a side of bland with that bland?" :P

I agree with Dids his return really didn't get me exicted. It was a piece of shit actually. And yea I would like Benoit to have a heel, a fresh new fued the HBK, HHH, Benoit fued is getting stale.

I'm all for a new Beniot fued, I'M ALL FOR ONE! But turning Edge heel this early on his return would be kinda weird. The only reason why some of us aren't all for him is because he's full of ring rust. I'd give him more time to see what kind of gimmick's he could estblish in the future. Its to early to turn him heel unless he blames Beniot for taking him, but then that might make the fans turn on Beniot because he was face at the time.

As it stands they could turn either Benoit or Shelton Benjamin and reveal them as the ones behind it.

But turning Benoit is bad so I don't they they should really do this.

When Trips or Shawn put over Benoit one-on-one, I'm all for him branching out. Edge needs to get his feet on the ground first; he's not exactly ready and he needs to work in the ring more. They'll do the turn when tghey drop the titles, and they should be using this time to get some new tag teams together as well since they have a team that is going to go out there and defend it with pride. Wait two months, play out the Michaels stuff first.

Well I don't know it sounded like perhaps there was going to be a budding feud between Orton and Edge for perhaps the belt but they got like 2 months to worry about that. Which would be a good thing if they can get the belt off Orton before he Gets up into the Main event and Go for the Big one

I was just thinking that the only way Benoit can ever truly surpass HHH is if he becomes the top heel as champion while HHH remains heel underneath. Oh man, that'd be awesome. Benoit as heel = even better wrestling matches.

They also need to capatalise on the "who injured Edge" storyline. It looks like Benoit vs HHH will headline the Bad Blood pay per view so Benoit vs Edge will no happen there. If Benoit vs Edge does happen Benoit has to be the heel (at least in the match) because the match will a lot better that way.

Here's how they can play that storyline out:

Have Edge do a promo about why he was gone for so long. He doesn't outright blame Benoit for it, but he does mention that it happened in a match between him and Benoit. Then, he starts talking about all the pain and physical therapy he had to go through to get back to where he is. Have this go on for about 5 minutes. Then, have Benoit, world title on waist/shoulder, come down to the ring, and say that he's sorry that Edge got injured.

Then Benoit tells Edge that he wants to make it up to him, man to man, Canadian to Canadian. He'll give him a rematch, whnever he wants, title or non-title, depending on whether or not he has it, blah, blah, blah.

Now, Triple H, who we all know will get the title shot, and probably the win at Bad Blood, starts his shtick with Edge. He starts trying to get to him, telling him that benoit did it on purpose, and that he'll do it again if he gets the chance, so he should turn down the offer. At first, Edge just blows him off. Then, what Triple H says starts to make an eerie sort of sense. Eventually, Edge gets so paranoid, he directly confronts Benoit, and asks him if what Triple H said is true.

Benoit denies it all, and says that Triple is just trying to get to him through Edge, distracting him for their title match. That makes it seem like Benoit is a little self-centered. Edge decides to accept that, but not without some trepidation.

There's a series of promos following the same formula. Also, a few promos with people in the back, mostly heels, thinking Edge must be a moron for believing Benoit. Edge starts getting irritable, and starts taking his frustration out on his opponents on RAW. Tease the possible heel turn. Fast-foward to Bad Blood, and Triple H has his title shot at the PPV, and Edge has ended up with a title shot against Randy Orton.

After the Orton/Edge match, Flair and Batista come down and cause a DQ, and then a beatdown ensues. Benoit comes down to the ring, possibly with a chair/foreign object, and cleans house. Edge thanks him, but he seems a little reluctant to do it. During the Triple H/Benoit match either Triple H wins clean, or he wins through a DQ or a countout, what have you. Then, Evolution beatdown #2 commences. Edge is nowhere to be found, and doesn't come down to the ring for the save.

The next night on RAW, Benoit comes down to the ring, with or without the title, it doesn't really matter to the storyline, and calls Edge out. Benoit wants to know why, after he came and saved Edge from the beatdown, Edge didn't come out and save him. Edge apologizes to Benoit, and tells him that after the chair shots he took to the "head area," he had to go to a medical facility, because of a mild concussion he sustained. He was actually taken there by one of the trainers in the back of a car.

Benoit says they're both men, and both Canadian, so he'll take him at his word. Later that night, Benoit just happens to be walking by when two lower card faces are talking about how bad Edge dissed Benoit, and then lied to his face about it. Benoit asks them what do they mean by that, and the faces reluctantly admit that they saw Edge leaving the arena in a car, by himself, after Benoit's match with Triple H was over.

Edge, meanwhile, is talking to Bischoff, claiming that he should get an automatic rematch with Orton for the title, because of Flair and Batista's interference last night at Bad Blood. Bischoff, in one of his rare good moods, decides to grant him the title shot that very night; and to placate Edge, Evolution is banned from ringside. Orton beats Edge cleanly after about a 10 minute match, back and forth, and only after a surprise RKO from out of nowhere, guaranteeing that Edge keeps his heat.

After the match, Evolution comes down. Let the obligatory beatdown commence. Benoit comes down to save Edge, at first. But then, Benoit confronts Edge, asking him if what [generic lower card face] said is true. Edge denies it, and says that Benoit has his back, and Edge has his.

Next week, and Edge has decided he wants his match at the next PPV, which is now 2-3 weeks away. Have generic tension build-up, with Benoit looking more and more face, and Edge looking more and more like he's going to do a heel-turn. Now, onto the match at the PPV. Edge gets the early advantage, but then the match goes back and forth, with both competitors getting more and more desperate, and taking shortcuts and cheating a little. Finally, Edge gets the win. But instead of taking the loss "like a man and a Canadian," Benoit grabs a chair, and goes postal on Edge, and then says that he NEVER liked Edge, and that he was GLAD that he put Edge on the shelf for over a year. He never thought Edge was a real man or a real Canadian.

Let the ultra-bitter feud commence.

I feel the same way. Maybe he doesn't need to be face, but he needs a character that works. I'm not buying this boring-ass INTENSE!~ character he's using now. It doesn't fit him or his look, but at the same time his comedy character was strictly midcard and hurt all his opponents.

The heel and face scenes on Raw are both rather bloated--I really don't get why he needed to be put on Raw in the first place.

I think an Orndorf/Hogan approach to a Benoit/Edge feud would work. Let them be pals for awhile, then one day Benoit takes the mother of all beatdowns from a gang of heels. Out comes Edge, drives them off. Holds Benoit's hand hi, then wham, cheapshots him.

Then, as Chrono suggested, Edge could blame Benoit for him being injured for so long.

Pretty much, but I think Benoit would be the better heel. Anyone else remember the Edge and Christian Tag Team Champs Era? *shudders*

Also, the swerve at the PPV of the guy who looks like the face is the better way to go.

I remember when Jericho and Christian both failed in doing this gimmick before and do not understand why it is being used on Edge. When Jericho was doing the cranky crybaby character he was doing the "I'm serious" BS and it killed any interest I had in the "Living Legend". When it was time for Christian to be INTENSE~ it was all about the either smiling or having fits in the ring after losing every match. Again it killed any interest I had in the Christian character.

If Edge is going to be a heel then might as well go for the cocky I'm always right character or coward attack from the back heel instead of the please please please spit on me I need attention character. And lose the shirt damn it unless he gets a Kid Rock/Unkle Cracker song. The RUTHLESS AGGRESSION of Edge is as entertaining as watching the Emergency Broadcast Warning EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH for flood warnings.
