MrRant 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 How is he a traitor since he resigned almost 4 months ago?
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 21, 2004 when he resigned he said he no longer had the passion to coach and wanted to take some significant time away from the game. It was one of like 3 of his reasons for resigning. Battles between Philli and Celts are historical too. After the Lakers are historical rival is Philli with Indiana and NJ slowly starting to creep into the picture.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Glad to see him coaching the Sixers. If he can lead a piss-poor Celtics team to a winning record, he can help the Sixers. And Jim O'Brien is a hometown guy, graduate of St. Joseph's.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Getting a new coach in there this early is, to me, an indication that they're not going to trade Iverson. If this doesn't work out, though, I could see him going at the next trade deadline.

Translation: Danny Ainge has sabotaged this team, I'd have to be crazy to continue coaching here.

Or the Pacers and the Celts. Or the Nets and the Celts. Or the Lakers and the Celts. Or the Knicks and the Celts. Or the Celts and the Celts. Damn Celts. They ruined the Celtics. Guest jpclemmons Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I wonder how a tough guy like O'Brien will handle someone like Iverson? It'll be interesting to watch on the media.

Do you think Iverson will stay a 76er for that much longer? I can see him being traded by next Feb. As for O'Brien, I'll miss him as Celtics coach, but such is life. Good luck in Philly maybe we'll get someone better.

If this doesn't work out, though, I could see him going at the next trade deadline. 76ers management and Allen Iverson have both gone on the record to say that AI will remain in Philly, and that they/him do not want a trade that would result in him leaving. The Sixers have strong merch/ticket sales, and that is mostly because of Iverson. I'm sure they will be super-accommodating to him after the debacle that was this season.
