Banned moves

Recommended Posts

Since I don't quite know which ones are banned, and I'm seriously wondering which ones are, I thought I'd ask. I know that piledrivers are banned, but what else and why?

The Vertebreaker, anyone doing a choke slam other than Taker, Kane, and Big Show, most forms of good wrestling sequences that involve acrobatics, and the bookers putting the ink to the paper that would give any cruiser not named Guerrero or Mysterio a push ; )

Any sort of head drop is banned except for special circumstances (i.e. whenever Taker pulls enough strings to use the Tombstone)

Mostly it's real versions of moves that are banned like: the DVD and Brainbuster. That's why Cena doesn't do a real DVD.

Is the DDT banned? I've heard several people say so, but I'm never sure as some people use it as finishers. I've heard Jake Roberts say that anyone who does it right will hurt someone, but can you really believe him?

I don't think the DDT is banned because it can be done with relative safety.

Christ did I just warp to the idiot board? Of course if you do a DDT correctly (driving someone's head into an ungiving surface) it will hurt someone.

The WWE doesn't advocate the habitual use of any piledrivers and or moves involving much timed acrobatics (Overhead belly to belly). they will be used to some extent if necessary.

Please close this jibberish.

The DDT's they do now aren't always done the way Jake did them originally. I think I read in a shoot interview review that Jake accidentally came up with the move by slipping while he had someone in a front face lock. That's what I mean. i'm not talking about "literally" doing a DDT, I'm talking about how it was originally done.

In that interview Jake said that no one now, not even Raven, does the DDT correctly

EDIT: Jake the Snake Shoot

I doubt Taker has to actually pull strings to use the Tombstone. I think it's just understood that it's for big matches.

Yeah. Either way it's just an occasional move is what I was trying to say.

And Chavo doesn't do a real brainbuster.

It makes their moves look dumb and painless.

Michael Cole even called Chavo's brainbuster a "suplex" on Smackdown before Tazz corrected him. Idiot.

Also, anybody other then HBK using a Superkick is banned.

Smackdown guys seem to be able to use them. Rikishi, Shelton, & Palumbo all used them.

Jake's a selfimportant coke addict. Believe nothing he said.

Anything that looks moderately effective as a finisher other than the superkick is banned.

which is strange because a Actual DVD finisher with the opponent Held Snugly against the Attacker's shoulders Looks more Safe than Cena's version of just dropping him on the side.

Just because a move is hardly used, doesn't mean it always been something. It still has to be built to mean something, or put over that it does.

You could bring up the whole look over condition that lead to more injuries, but eh, if the WWE wants to tone down some moves fine, but wrestlers really need to expand the lower end moves for that to work.

If the WWE move culter moved away from a hand full of sig moves, to everyone have a very board range of low and mid level moves along with their signutre moves, any of the higher end moves would look deadly. But that's not the way it works.

All non-sitout powerbombs also seem to be banned. ;)

What I found interesting was that the incidences of neck injuries seemed to increase AFTER the piledriver ban (post JD 2000 when Taker gave HHH a stinger during his run-in)

that was into JBL laid out a Mexican looking Paul London in a subpar Agulia Mask with a Standing Jackknife like Powerbomb

That was from the Pedigree on the table that didn't break wasn't it, rather than the Tombstone.

Don't remember that happening. Every report I've heard was that when Taker returned at Judgment Day 2000 he gave HHH a Tombstone that impacted his head too hard and gave him a stinger.
