I like Christian alright but I think he has been made to look weak way toi much over the years to be made into a credible heel challenger. He may be a ahead of a lot of the other heel RAW superstars in how high on the card he is, but there are others who who would need less of a push to be able to challenge Benoit, as they don't have the history of weakness that Christian has displayed countless and countless times week after week on RAW and sometimes Heat (where he is not far from if his current push hits a stumbling-block, IMO).

Christian's only hope is for Edge to get the title and to have a feud with him based on their past.

Seriously can we even debate about who will and won't get a title run with these two? One's on Raw, the other is on Smackdown. If they were on the same show, maybe then we could debate about it, but since they aren't I really don't see a point to this. Maybe if you compare Christian to Test, maybe that'd make more sense.

As far as length in the company, Christian deserves a title reign first, no doubt.

 

But Cena's gimmick plays off such recent a recent pop culture development, and his often amusing rhymes got him over as such a loveable heel and now a loveable face.

 

I like Christian a lot, but his generic "asshole heel" gimmick is a bit plain, and as well as Cena's creativity, if you combine his looks, his ability and his gimmick, bringing him off as a Shawn Michaels-esque character, you have yourself a hell of a wrestler, getting him over very quickly, and putting more money in the company's pocket as far as a title reign goes.

So your saying that the old HBK "Cocky", "arrogant", "Up myself" gimmick is a stereotypical heel gimmick? To me the stereotypical heel gimmick is the one that Randy Orton possesses and that is the "Cocky" gimmick. Every heel wrestler has had the "cocky" gimmick. HHH started with it, Jericho did, hell anyone who has ever been a heel has had the "Cocky" gimmick. However HBK's and Christian's heel "Cocky", "arrogant", "Up myself" gimmicks are unique. They are original and they go over with fans really well. The gimmick that Christian has now made HBK a star I can't see why Christian having this gimmick won't make him a future star of the WWE.
