the max 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 Sometimes. It's kind of just...there in terms of speed. Not really fast, like their commercials suggest, but not too slow either. My only gripe is with the "service" that they provide with it. I have had four, yes four, service calls in the last two weeks to fix it because the modem will not connect. Each time, I get a different excuse. First, it was that my modem was fried. They had me go in and get a new one. Bring it home, no difference. Then, the entire neighborhood was down, even though my mom talked to some of the neighbors who said there was nothing wrong with it. We tried to ask the service technician what the problem was, but he took off without telling us, and we didn't find out anything until we called them. Then, they had about 5 workers up on the cherry pickers, with ladders, the whole nine yards, who determined that the lines needed to be cleaned, which he never did. They're famous for telling you 'someone will be out there today,' and then, if a tech goes out there, they don't leave any kind of note or anything to even let you know they were there. They did that with us. Twice. Finally, one tech came out and said that a branch had interfered with the lines, which I'm hoping that one of those other geniuses would have noticed. But, it's been working fine ever since. In a nutshell, if you have the time to be jerked around, lied to, talk to rude "service" representatives on the phone, and have to schedule your day around them coming "anywhere from 8-4," by all means, do it. Personally, it's not worth the $44.95.

Mik 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 I've had roadrunner for the past 3 years, and have never had a problem. As for speed, I can't say. I live in a house with 7 people and we're all hooked up to one router so it's not as fast it would be normally or for you.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 When I lived in SW Ohio I never had a problem with RR, or Time Warner Cable for that matter. Well, there were a few times when it acted goofy, but the problems always got fixed in a jiff. The only on-line game I played on-line was Diablo II and I was always fine, although there were times when I'd summon a BUTT-load of undead and the better half cast a fire wall spell or two and things would slow up, but that's just nitpicking...
