The Metal Maniac Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Ok, so like, I turned my PC on today, and literally half the icons that were on my desktop are gone. It was all junk I never use anyway, but I'm curious if it's just something that XP is programmed to do, or what-have-you. Also, there's a bunch of icons on my desktop that I have no idea where they came from, nor what they are. They appear to be logs of Javascript, or something...and one is just called "~". Do these kinds of things need to be on my desktop, or can I feel reasonably safe in deleting them?
the max Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 XP deletes the ones that are inactive for a certain period of time, although I think it asks you before it deletes stuff.
MooreMark Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 It runs the "Desktop Icon Removal Wizard" or something. But only with your permission.
The Metal Maniac Posted May 2, 2004 Author Report Posted May 2, 2004 Oh, ok, that's a cool feature...someone else must have run it, so I didn't know what happened. Thanks.
