EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Tomorrow we have the Chicago/St. Louis series wrapping up, as former Braves Greg Maddux and Jason Marquis meet up head to head. Interesting series this week, from Tuesday to Thursday. Yankees and A's meet up, this time in Oakland.

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Phils host the Cards in Philly this week, so its the usual Boo Rolen series. Then I believe they travel to Arizona for a 3-game series on the weekend. Once again, 2 out of 3 for both series.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Another week, another baseball thread. The Sox are heading to Cleveland, so that should get them back on track. Not sure if it means much to you, but the Indians beat the Orioles in the 2 games they played, plus the Sox face Westbrook in the first game and hes their 2nd best pitcher and has one of the best ERA's in the AL at 1.69 (although hes only made 1 start and 3 relief appearances) so it doesn't qualify him for the ERA leaderboard. The O's have the White Sox and Indians at home this week.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Minnesota is at Seattle, and Oakland this week. Hitting's hit a slump, but 5 straight quality starts from the starters. Shannon Stewart should be back in the lineup Tuesday night. Mathew LeCroy could be back Friday. Joe Mauer is still 3 weeks away.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 If Texas' record is any indication, they should revoke A-Rod's MVP award from last year
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 It doesn't have anything to do with A-Rod. The Rangers' pitching allowed the most runs in the league last season. This season, they're tied for second best.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 *presses sarcasm button too late* A-Rod was holding that team DOWN~! Personally, I believe in the spirit of MVP (most valuable player, not just the #1 player in the league)
Fökai 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 The Braves start a six-game homestand against a hot Padres team (7-3 in their last ten games) and finish with a weekend series against the NL Central-leading Astros (8-3 on the road). The starters need a few more wins until their belt to boost their confidence - the rotation has a 6-10 record between them - so these series are crucial despite it being so early into the season. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Personally, I believe in the spirit of MVP (most valuable player, not just the #1 player in the league) How can you be the best player in the league and not be the most valuable? The spirit of the award seems to be "screw A-Rod, he's overpaid."
Slayer 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Well I see the light now Certainly, without A-Rod, the Rangers might've been 40 games under .500 and 45 games back of 1st in division, rather than the 20 under and 25 back that they were You just can't get value like that

Value means WINNING GAMES.
Hektik 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Going into this week, the Padres are still tied with the Dodgers for first place in the NL West. As of today the Padres stand at 16-10 and will face the Braves this week and the Marlins this weekend. Wow, it has been a long time since I've been able to say the Padres are in first place. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Thank god this is the final game of the Cubs / Cards series. While it's been a great series, I think my heart is on the brink of exploding from the intensity of it all. A series with Colorado and the Sexson-free D-Backs is just what the doctor ordered for me. As for this game, another well-pitched game, but the Cubs are blowing some chances to put this one out of reach. They've had the bags full back-to-back innings and have nothing to show for it. In all fairness, the first time they walked Lee to load them up to get to Gonzalez. This past time, though, Alou grounds out on a tough play to Rolen to end the inning. Time to get Maddux out of there, though.

Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Whens the last time two starting pitchers stole bases in a game? BTW: Cincinnati outfielder Adam Dunn didn't like the small TV in his Pittsburgh hotel room, so he asked the front desk whether he could rent a bigger screen so he could play video games. "Figuring that even with high hotel prices, it would be about $50 a night," Dunn said. Surprise. For four days, the bill was $884. "When I saw that bill, I asked for my room key back so I could go to the room and carry out that TV I just bought," Dunn said.

Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 4, 2004 Good God. We WIN! WE FINALLY WIN AGAIN! Graves comes in with a 2 run lead. Hits the first batter (I think Graves has only had one 1-2-3 inning this year, out of about 14 innings). Then, proceeds to give up 3 WARNING TRACK (seriously, all 3 of these were just a few feet from HRs) shots to each part of the feild, center, right then left. This man is driving me completely fucking nuts.

Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 4, 2004 When does Wagner earn the closer's job? My fantasy team depends on it. Right now, he's about to earn himself a job as Louisville's closer. Heh, no - he's going through some bumps right now. He's had a few dominate innings, then a few awful innings, but Miley and the crew is confident in him and he said he's gonna stick with Wagner, which I like and agree with. He won't be the closer until Graves (and his $6.5 mil contract) is traded or in 2006 when it'll be off the tables (highly doubt he lasts that long with this team). Bored 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2004 Check out Horacio Ramirez of the Braves bizarre statistics to this point: 0-3, 2.43 ERA, 14 SO, 19 BB So he's pitching like a pitcher who should have a much higher ERA with his terrible strikeout-to-walk ratio. But his ERA indicates someone who should have a much better record and least one win to this point. Then I noticed his last outing against Colorado: 3.1 IP, 5 H, 8 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 1 SO I wonder what the is record is for most runs given up with none being earned?
