therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 I'm going to go darkhorse and say Georgia. Experienced QB, veteran team all-around. They get LSU in Athens this year and if they can finally beat Florida and win the SEC title game, they would have a good chance of getting to the Orange Bowl and winning the national title. Thoughts? ::readies self for Dama's OU fanboy posts::

Thoughts? ::readies self for Dama's OU fanboy posts:: No I'm still expecting something off the wall. Like Georgia vs. Texas. I'm personally pulling for OU and LSU to both get Sugar Bowl bids and have a rematch. I mean I care about OU winning the national title game and if they can make it there that's fine. But personally I care more about them whipping KSU's asses up and down the field in Manhattan and then hopefully doing the same in the Big XII title game. Oh btw OU's offense that was the #1 scoring offense and scored over 600 points throughout the season.....with no tight end or run game.......has a tight end and run game......and the same offensive playmakers........so......DIE KSU. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 Oh god the LAST thing I want is Texas near the national title game, my stepdad went to Texas, and hearing him pimp them EVERY YEAR is really sickening. It gets me to the point where I just simply root for Oklahoma to whip the shit out of them in October.

It gets me to the point where I just simply root for Oklahoma to whip the shit out of them in October. You don't really need to root for OU to whip the shit out of Texas. On paper......Texas should be the best team in the country! But let's look at the coaching difference between OU and Texas. OU: Bob Stoops. One of the best(if not THE best) coaches in college football with one of the best staffs in football. Texas: Mack Brown.....idiot that can't even figure out which QB to use. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 What's sad is that Texas would probably play for the National Title every year if they didn't have to play the Red River Shootout. That's usually the blemish on there record.....and it's a BIG one. Oh btw......schools in contention and hovering around a national title bid next season: LSU, OU, USC, Georgia, Texas(if they can beat OU), KSU, Miami. I expect to see a combination of these teams in the BCS bowls.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 Nah Mack Brown finds a way to fuck up the season even without the Red River Shootout(2003:Arkansas game, 2001:Choking away a shot at the national title game by losing the Big XII title game) My picks for the 4 major bowl games Orange: Georgia vs. Oklahoma Rose: Ohio State vs. USC Sugar: Miami vs. LSU Fiesta: West Virginia vs. Florida State

Because they won the National Title at the last Orange Bowl in 2000........it'd be cool if they played Miami though like they should've in 2000.

C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 I think that there is a strong possibility that the University of Delaware will defend their title and become only the third back to back champions. Wait, you weren't talking about 1-AA?
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 I think that there is a strong possibility that the University of Delaware will defend their title and become only the third back to back champions. Wait, you weren't talking about 1-AA? Nobody talks about 1-AA. What do you guys think will be the best conference? I say SEC. They'll have at least 3 maybe 4 top 25 teams(LSU, Georgia, Florida) Then the Big XII I think will have the same amount(OU, Texas, KSU) but the SEC will be harder to compete in. The PAC 10 will have like one good team(USC) and the Big Ten will probably have Michigan and OSU the ACC will have Miami and Florida State and I don't know what the fuck the Big East will have with those teams abandoning it. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 Once again Dama, the SEC does own all other conferences, so you're right to say it's the toughest. I would love to say that Tennessee is in the hunt this year, but it ain't happening. A pretty good near-January 1st bowl bid to be sure, but we're operating with a new quarterback and have lost a few other key people. It looks like another 8-4 Cotton Bowl year. My official pick: Georgia over Oklahoma in the title game. Georgia is just going to be scary good this year, and damned near unstoppable like OU was last year, except without the meltdown. EDIT: Run for cover motherfuckers, Clemson will be a top 15 if not top 10 team by the end of the season if they can keep up their momentum from last year. I'm trying not to get all "OU will win the national title!" but in the back of my head it's hard to not think they will. They bring in Bo Pelini as co-defensive coordinator to replace Mike Stoops. Who took a terrible Nebraska team and led them to causing the most turnovers in the NCAA. You have the usual awesome defense that didn't even allow LSU a 1st down in the second half of the Sugar Bowl. You have the same exact offense that led the country in scoring and had the Heisman winning QB with a 5 to 1 TD/INT ratio. Oh and they scored 600 points last season without throwing to the tight end and with virtually no running game. This year they bring back all of those offensive playmakers and realize they have a backup QB in Paul Thompson that is almost as good as White when throwing and can scramble. So if White goes down or is ineffective you know who to turn to. You have an awesome tight end they can utilize this year in Bubba Moses. And you have the #1 High School prospect and widely considered to be a future star in Adrian Peterson entering at running back.......... I see no reason why they can't be better than they were last year. They were scary last year up until the last two games. And this season they'll be even more dominant and probably won't have the extreme meltdown. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch but I'm finding it hard not to believe they'll win the National Title. I mean just think of it that way. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 This is also why I'm hoping USC makes it to the National Title game next season against a major team(like Georgia, LSU, or OU) and gets beatdown. Then maybe everyone will shut up. My friend said he wouldn't have a problem with USC fans if they didn't constantly give him shit about the title game. He said that it would've been fine if they'd razzed him about OU not deserving to be there. But the people that he(and I) ran into acted like it was OU's fault they were in the game and acted like somehow in turn us fans were at fault as well. As if any of us had any fucking control! The only thing you can blame OU for is losing. I guess you could get mad at them for that. "Dammit! Why'd you have to lose and mess everything up! Assholes!" Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 the ACC will have Miami and Florida State I think you're underestimating a bit. Maryland's returning a ton of starters and will probably go 10-3 like they always seem to do. Virginia's missing a strong QB, but they have a young, fast defense that can run with any team in the ACC and two really good running backs in Wali Lundy and Alvin Pearman. Clemson is going to be huge as long as Charlie Whitehurst is healthy - I don't think Kotz overestimates their potential at all with his top 15 call. Virginia Tech is always decent, though they are coming off a pair of really disappointing seasons. NC State without Rivers is questionable in the same way that UVA without Schaub is, but moreso since he was *such* a huge part of their team. Everybody else is pretty middle-of-the-road, and a couple of these teams are obviously going to have to disappoint, but I think you sell the 11-team ACC way short if you limit its all-stars to just FSU and Miami. Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 5, 2004 I have a feeling it'll be one of those "ummm...ok" type winners when you really didn't expect them at the begining of the season or even the middle but because that said team kept winning and other teams didn't...they kind of waltz into the National Title and America isn't really in that state of mind to care because it was so anti-climatic and that team wasn't really an "established" school like LSU, OKU, USC or even Georgia... That team? Kansas State. To be safe though...I'll say Georgia Vs Texas in the National Title Game...and they'll have a 25 ot game ending in a tie.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 Also OU will have beaten Texas and go to the Big XII title game but have lost to KSU in the regular season and b/c of some BCS shennanigans they don't go to the title game and Texas does despite not even competing in the conference title game. Then Bob Stoops holds a press conference and is like "I think you should win your conference to compete for the national......what's that?" *agent begins whispering* "This press conference is over! Smithers release the hounds!"
